It’s time for the yellow truck to move on with a new owner. It’s a bittersweet parting but it’ll be a good home for it. It’s on the road now headed to Montana ac blasts cold, air ride is smooth from the new freightliner suspension. Top speed is 85mph with a fresh rack adjustment on the big cam Cummins and a small tweak to the pump. The led headlights are awesome at night with out looking weird. He will be adding the 150g freightliner tanks later on. Her says it ties the 4 car wedge trailer loaded up like it’s not even there. I’m pretty stoked everything worked exactly like I wanted it to. I’ll build another one some day. In the meantime I have a 30x40 Quonset hut shop to build now.

Some welding hacks I’m sure I’m not the first to come up with. Cut the fingers and thumb off your old gloves and stuff them in your new gloves to create a double layer of insulation. Especially good for my left hand which is closest to the heat most of the time.

One of the last pieces to this leg of the a frame hoist is this worn out superduty hub assembly. The plan is to design and cut out brackets to bolt on the hub assembly roughly 6ft off the ground. Then use a disc brake and a dually wheel to build rotisserie legs off of. The disc brake I’ll use to pin the rotisserie at the angle I want and the wheel will be what I use to weld the forks to for the rotisserie. That way it can all be removable until it’s needed.

Working on my first basic fabrication project for my welding class. I’ve been carrying this pipe around for years to build an A frame hoist, and I’m finally getting around to it. I’ll post more pics as it progresses. The plan is for it to be 14’ wide and also have a body rotisserie in the middle of it. With an 8x8 I beam and trolley for moving stuff around.

Time to thin the herd a bit. 7.3l excursion, Dana 60 radius arm conversion, small upgrades to cooling and flow on engine and trans. 280k miles. Front seats need recovered, and the hood and roof clear coat is rough.
