One of the weird things about owning a custom car shop is how everybody seems to have the same questions at the same damn time. One week everybody wants to know what fuel injection we use, the next it’s tires, exhaust, or what brand of underwear I wear while working on a ’69 Road Runner. Okay, nobody’s asked that last one yet, but give it time.

For whatever reason, the last couple of weeks I’ve had a ridiculous number of people asking what kind of trailer we use to haul cars all over the country.

Well, the answer is Load N Go Trailers, right here in Omaha, Arkansas!

And no, it’s not because they’re five minutes from the shop and I’m too lazy to drive any farther. Although, that certainly doesn’t hurt.

We use them because they build a damn good trailer, the price is hard to beat, and I can load cars on these things that would’ve left my old trailer crying in the driveway.

So rather than answer the same question another 400 times, I made a video explaining what we use, why we use it, and how you can get a custom-built trailer for under five grand.

Today we said goodbye to the ’67 GTO… well, sort of!

Spencer and Cole made the haul all the way from Rochester, Minnesota, to pick her up and take her back to Maass Auto Body, where the real fun begins!

While they’re working their magic on the body, we’ll be finishing up the engine and transmission install in the frame, along with the driveshaft and all the other fixins! We’ll also be getting the interior over to Tumbleweed Upholstery.

Our original goal was to have this GTO completely finished by November 1, but parts delays and backorders threw a wrench in those plans!

The new goal is to have everything finished and the car back together within the next month or so, with hopes of having it sitting in its owner’s driveway by Christmas Day!

We’ve still got plenty of work ahead of us, but things are finally coming together. Gonna be one heck of a car when it’s done! Stay tuned!

Project “Red Runner” rolled into Ozark Speed Co. just TWO days ago, and after about 16 hours of busting our asses, she’s already off to the body shop!

Not bad for a couple days of work!

While the boys in the body shop work their magic, we’ll be diving into all the fun engine stuff and getting this old Mopar ready for its next chapter.

This one is going to be a BAD ASS ride when we’re done, and we’re just getting started!

Stay tuned, folks. Red Runner is officially underway!

We’ve teased it, threatened to do it, and had people say, “Holy s**t, you’ve got THAT car?! I want in!”

Well, after SEMA and PRI, we’re finally doing something about it.

We’re bringing in the ACTUAL HERO MONTE CARLO from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift! One of only SEVEN built by the legendary Dennis McCarthy for the movie!

So what the hell are we going to do with it?

We’re thinking a Texas Speed-built MONSTER under the hood, a Mad Dog Transmission behind it, ACES EFI feeding it, and a full year of hauling this Hollywood legend to every show and event we can find!

Big horsepower, tire-shredding fun, and enough bad decisions to make the purists lose their minds!

But here’s the question…

Do we preserve a piece of Hollywood history, or build the absolute monster this car deserves to be?

And who wants in on making it happen?

When the LS swap everyone told you couldn’t do… FIRES UP ANYWAY!

Here’s the thing. I don’t take joy in pointing out people’s shortcomings, and I’m not interested in do***ng somebody just for the hell of it. But you know what I do enjoy? Doing what others said couldn’t be done and fixing the half-assed work that never should’ve happened in the first place.

If Adam Carolla can get on TV and call out s**tty contractors, you can bet your ass I’ll call out s**tty automotive work.

We’ve spent HOURS correcting mistakes, undoing shortcuts, and fixing things that somebody else apparently thought were good enough. Well, good enough isn’t good enough when a customer is spending their hard-earned money and trusting you with their car.

Are we perfect? Hell no. We make mistakes too. But there’s a big difference between making a mistake and making a habit out of cutting corners.

Now, before anybody gets too excited, we’re not done yet! We’ve still got exhaust to finish and a throttle cable bracket to sort out. But the LS is RUNNING, and that’s a pretty damn big milestone for a swap that supposedly couldn’t be done!

This car is going to be an absolute RIPPER when we’re finished, and more importantly, it’s going to be what the customer paid for and DESERVES.

Some folks build excuses. We build cars.

Things you DO NOT want to see after paying someone good money to “restore” your car!

WOWIE MAUI! This thing is a hot mess!

Exposed copper, wires twisted together like bread ties, insulation that’s seen better decades, and enough questionable electrical work to make a fire marshal develop a nervous twitch!

I’d make a list of everything wrong with this car, but I’m pretty sure Facebook has a character limit, and I’d like to retire someday.

Folks, there’s a BIG difference between restoring a car and just putting it back together. Pretty paint doesn’t mean a damn thing if what’s underneath looks like a meth-fueled science experiment.

Buckle up! This one’s gonna be interesting!

One thing about Ozark Speed Co. that’s never been up for debate: Veteran owned. Veteran operated.

There’s a whole lot going on in this country right now, and Lord knows we’re not all going to agree on everything. And that’s alright. That’s part of what makes this country what it is.

But I’d like to think we can still find some common ground in the Star-Spangled Banner, the red, white, and blue, and the sound of good old-fashioned Detroit steel coming back to life.

We love our country, we love what we do, and we’re damn proud of both.

God bless America, and God bless American horsepower.
