For all of those years, one thing has remained constant: the people behind Switlik.

Some of our employees have spent decades of their own lives alongside this company, helping shape who we are today.

Whether they’re building, sewing, testing, shipping, designing, or supporting our customers, every person here plays a role in keeping Switlik moving forward.

Switlik recently became a founding member of the New Jersey Business Council for Childcare, a new statewide coalition, advised by Moms First, bringing together employers across healthcare, manufacturing, and hospitality to make the economic case for childcare and bring the voice of business into the conversation.

"Switlik is proud to join the New Jersey Business Council for Childcare as a founding member. We look forward to learning from fellow employers, childcare advocates, and community partners as we work to better understand the connection between childcare access and workforce participation. As a manufacturing employer, we believe these conversations are important to the long-term strength of New Jersey's workforce and economy." — Sarah Switlik, President, Switlik Survival Products

This is Caterpillar Club Application #1 in a new series pulled straight from the Switlik archive 📖.

In the pilot's own words:

"While engaged on a foreign ferrying mission I was forced to bail out of my aircraft (P-39) at 9,000 feet. The cause was attributed to mechanical difficulties — a break in an oil line which resulted in fire in the cockpit as well as in the engine section. I escaped with minor burns. It required two days for me to make my way to the nearest camp, as I had bailed out over a heavily wooded area. The accident occurred out of the states, hence military regulations will not permit me to mention names or places."

🪂 This is one of thousands of stories in our archive: people whose lives were saved by a parachute, told in their own words.

📩 If you believe a family member may be the aviator behind this account, or any story in this series, we'd like to hear from you. Email us at [email protected], we're working to reconnect these records with the families they belong to.

Our president, Sarah Switlik, recently went back to her alma mater, Babson College, as a guest speaker in Lauri Union’s Entrepreneurial Families class.

After graduating, Sarah continued her leadership development with Lauri and the Babson Bertarelli Institute for Family Entrepreneurship for Family Entrepreneurship. That work helped shape her growth as a leader here at Switlik.

For the class, Sarah presented a case study on leadership transitions in family business. She shared her own story of working with her father, and how their relationship changed as Switlik moved from the 3rd to the 4th generation. It was a successful transition, and it was built on the relationship first, with the formal structures coming after.

Thank you to Lauri and the Babson students for welcoming Sarah back and for such a thoughtful conversation. Family has always been at the heart of how Switlik builds, and we’re proud to help the next generation of family business leaders learn from our story.

A great day with the people who make Switlik what it is☀️

One of our favorite Switlik traditions is our annual company picnic. Each year, we put work aside for a day and come together as a team to enjoy good food, games, activities, raffles, and plenty of laughs.

The best part of Switlik has always been the people. Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s annual picnic such a great day💙

79 years of the United States Air Force.

Today also marks National POW/MIA Recognition Day. A reminder of the airmen who never made it home, and the ones who did because someone, somewhere, built the gear that gave them a chance.

Switlik has spent over a century building survival equipment for the people who fly into harm's way. Today, we're just saying thank you.
