Transmission service isn’t always a “fix.”

If a transmission is already slipping, shuddering, delayed going into gear, or showing other signs of internal wear, changing the fluid can sometimes enhance the problem.

In some worn transmissions, the old fluid may contain friction material and debris that has actually been helping it continue to operate. Once that old fluid is replaced, the underlying wear can become more noticeable.

That’s why we recommend having transmission concerns properly checked before assuming a fluid service is all it needs.

This unit had definitely seen better days. 😬

That thick sludge didn’t happen overnight. It’s a sign that the transmission has been operating with severely degraded, overheated fluid for quite some time. The buildup has literally baked onto the case.

If your transmission is slipping, shifting hard, delayed going into gear, or leaking fluid, don’t wait until it leaves you stranded.
