Newer vehicles have moved many simple controls—heat, defrosters, radio stations, volume and navigation—onto sensitive touchscreens.
In the past, drivers could often find and turn a k**b without taking their eyes off the road. Today, even a simple adjustment may require looking at a screen and carefully touching the correct spot.
Before you begin driving:
✅ Set your temperature and defrosters
✅ Choose your music or radio station
✅ Enter your destination
✅ Learn your steering-wheel controls
✅ Ask a passenger to help when possible
When an adjustment requires more than a quick glance, pull over somewhere safe.
Technology can make driving more convenient—but it should never take your attention away from the road.
Set it before you drive.

A big thank-you to the The City of Wyandotte, Michigan - Government and the Wyandotte Police Department for sending an officer to visit our students and lead an impairment-goggle demonstration! 🚔

This hands-on experience gave our young drivers a powerful look at how alcohol can affect vision, balance, coordination, judgment, and reaction time—and why drinking and driving is never worth the risk.

In addition to the impairment-goggle demonstration, students also experienced drowsy-driving goggles, which showed how fatigue can affect focus, reaction time, and decision-making. It was an eye-opening experience that left a lasting impression on many of our students.

We truly appreciate your time and your commitment to educating our students and helping keep our roads and community safe.

Make the responsible choice: never drink and drive, and never ride with an impaired driver.

🚗🌫️ WILDFIRE SMOKE DRIVING SAFETY
With Michigan experiencing extremely poor air quality from wildfire smoke, remember this important vehicle setting:
Press the air-recirculation button—the symbol showing an arrow circling inside a car.
While driving in smoky conditions:
✅ Keep your windows and sunroof closed
✅ Set your ventilation or air conditioning to RECIRCULATE
✅ Make sure your cabin air filter is clean
✅ Slow down if smoke or haze reduces visibility
✅ Leave additional following distance
✅ Use your defroster whenever needed to keep the windshield clear
Recirculation helps limit the smoky outside air entering your vehicle. However, your vehicle is not a completely smoke-free shelter, and a dirty cabin filter may provide less protection.
For longer trips, take breaks at a cleaner indoor location when possible. Always check current air-quality alerts before traveling.
Stay alert. Breathe safer. Drive carefully.

🚗 Celebrating Our First Segment 1 Sponsorship Recipients!
Congratulations to Mattie, Hunter, Giorgia, and Melany, the first recipients of the Stroia School of Driving Segment 1 Driver Education Sponsorship! 🎉
We awarded sponsorships to four deserving students from:
Wyandotte Roosevelt High School, Riverview High School, Allen Park High School, and Lincoln Park High School.
This community program was created to give deserving students the opportunity to complete Segment 1 driver education while helping reduce financial barriers for local families.
These students were selected for demonstrating responsibility, commitment, hard work, and the potential to become safe and confident drivers. Through this program, we hope to support their growing independence and invest in their future success.
We are incredibly proud of our recipients and grateful to the schools, counselors, teachers, families, and members of our office team who helped make this program possible.
This is only the beginning. We look forward to continuing the Segment 1 Sponsorship Program and expanding our efforts to create more opportunities for deserving students throughout our community.

🚫 Don’t Drink and Drive — Lives Depend on It

Every year, hundreds of people in Michigan are seriously injured or killed in crashes involving drunk drivers.
In 2023 alone, 9,328 alcohol-involved crashes occurred in our state — 303 of them were fatal.

Driving under the influence isn’t just dangerous — it’s a serious crime.
• .08% BAC or higher: You’re legally intoxicated in Michigan.
• First offense: Up to 93 days in jail, $500 fine, and license suspension.
• Causing injury or death: Felony charges, years in prison, and a lifetime of regret.

It’s simple — if you’ve been drinking, don’t drive.
Call a friend, rideshare, or a cab. One bad decision can change lives forever.
