It’s hard to believe that 10 years ago I drove my first race track: the Nürburgring with Taki sitting in the left seat coaching me. I had only planned on driving one day, but it was so thrilling that I added an additional day. Somewhere on YouTube is the video of Taki driving and me screaming for him to slow down from the passenger seat. Truly unforgettable.

“Bring it home” or “go for the win”?
After this weekend, we asked Taki Skaltsas the question every racing fan is debating right now. 🏎️💥.

The first endurance race of the season didn’t end the way we wanted.

After three hours of racing, while leading our competition, the weak link in the car finally showed itself — the clutch gave out, and our race was over.

But we’re not going to focus on the ending. We’re going to focus on everything that got us there.

First and foremost, huge credit to the Abolds who only had the car for four days before the event. They worked nonstop to get it race-ready, putting in long hours and giving everything they had to make this weekend possible. The effort behind the scenes was incredible.

All four drivers drove their hearts out today. Even with the disadvantage of running four drivers against competitors running only two — which meant extra pit stops and more time spent in pit lane — we were still able to stay ahead and control the race for hours.

The pace was there too. The team laid down the fastest lap of the race with a 1:14, proving what this car is capable of.

The positives are clear: the brakes were strong, the suspension worked flawlessly, and the motor never missed a beat. The pace, teamwork, and determination were all there.

Unfortunately, the weak link turned out to be the clutch.

That’s endurance racing. You learn, you rebuild, and you come back stronger.

On a personal note, we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to drive with this team. Weekends like this create memories that will last a lifetime.

For Taki, this race brought back memories from his rally days, where driving for hours at a time was part of the challenge and excitement. It was special to reconnect with those feelings again and experience that endurance mindset once more alongside such an amazing group of people.

We’ll be ready for the next one.

We are excited to share that we’ve been invited to join Team Abold Racing for the first endurance racing event this Friday at NJMP. The platform is a Ford Mustang GT race car. The endurance race is 4 hours long and Taki will be one of four drivers. He will be joining Billy and Christian Abold & John Heller. The team is strong and we are expecting a podium finish. 💪💪 Stay tuned for more!

The odds were stacked against us all weekend. We came in underprepared, skipped rain tires despite the forecast, and then couldn’t even mount our new set when the tire machine failed—leaving us on two-year-old A7s with 18 heat cycles. Not ideal for our first time back after a five-month offseason.

Still, once we got on track, #392 proved it was planted. After a 2:03 and a 2:00.7, the pace kept dropping, and even with a small mistake in the final corners, we crossed the line with a 1:59.7—good enough to take the win.

With the upgrades and setup from we know there’s more time to find. And with showing his pace this weekend, it’s clear we’ll be pushing each other all season. Stay tuned!
