New Jersey Herald: Ka-thump! It's pothole time

Even though we (hopefully!) are through the worst of winter, there is still something you have to watch out for on the roads. Tony is featured in this NJ Herald article talking about some damages you should be aware of! 🚗🚕🚙💨

http://m.njherald.com/w/main/story/110280656/

But just when you think you are in the clear, you strike a new problem -- a pothole that could land your car in the auto repair shop, or worse, in the salvage yard.

www.MechanicAdvisor.com Tuesday Tip: Don’t fill up at a gas station if you see the tanker.

If you happen to see a gasoline tanker filling the tanks at your local gas station, come back another day or go to a different station. As the station’s underground tanks are being filled, the turbulence can stir up sediment. Sediment in your gas can clog fuel filters and fuel injectors, causing poor performance and possibly necessitating repairs.

Mechanic Advisor's Tip -- Communicate Clearly: many misunderstandings between car owners and mechanics come down to miscommunication. Make sure your mechanic understands what you need done, and that he explains what he will be doing on your car. If he can show you, even better! What are other important traits you think you should have in a mechanic?

MechanicAdvisor.com - Tuesday Tip -- Communicate Clearly: many misunderstandings between car owners and mechanics come down to miscommunication. “I tell people there are a lot of really good mechanics out there,” he says. “But they may not communicate well or be the best businessmen.” According to Davis, “the number-one reason people feel they got scammed is because the mechanic fixed the wrong problem, and not the problem they came in for.” So make sure the mechanic understands what you need done, and that he explains what he will be doing on your car.

Vacation prep for your car

Planning a Road Trip this Summer? Nothing will throw a wrench into your plans like breaking down halfway there! Make sure you let your mechanic look over the car at least a week prior to your trip. That way, if something pops up, you have the time to get it repaired.

Here are some things your mechanic should be looking at:
Fluid levels, belts, hoses, lights, tires and brakes, to name a few.

Low coolant or antifreeze, a fraying belt or a worn-down hose could lead to big trouble out on the road. A small repair now could spare you a big expensive repair later on.
