The unfortunate reality of owning an RV: if it isn't broken yet, it will be eventually.

The AC quits in the middle of summer. Roof seals degrade from brutal UV and heat. You notice a sudden loss of braking power. It happens to every rig eventually.

Here's what usually comes next. You take time off work to unload, hitch up, and drive all the way to the dealership. You wait just to get checked in, because their time is more important than yours. They keep your rig for weeks, sometimes months. Then you take more time off to drive back, do the paperwork, hitch up again, and make the trip home... just to find out on your next trip that it still wasn't fixed right.

⚠️ RV OWNERS: HERE’S WHAT’S ACTUALLY IN YOUR A/C SERVICE (AND WHAT’S NOT)

We keep running into this, so let’s break it down.

Look at photo 1. That’s a competitor’s posted “A/C Service” list. Looks solid… until you know what to look for. As a trained RV tech, here’s what’s MISSING:

1️⃣ Capacitor readings/condition check
2️⃣ Condenser coil blow out and cleaning
3️⃣ Evaporator coil blow out and cleaning

Based on what’s published, the main thing improving your AC’s performance there is a filter clean. That’s one small piece of the job, not the whole thing.

So what’s actually in a Blue Ribbon RV A/C service?

Photo 2: part of our actual process. Pulling the evaporator coil cover, protecting the capacitor and control board with towels, and sealing the supply air opening so moisture doesn’t go where it shouldn’t ✅

Photos 3 & 4: before and after of our evaporator coil cleaning. A real A/C service is supposed to improve efficiency and extend the unit’s life. Skip this one component and you get inferior results. That’s why it’s non negotiable in ours.

The proof is in the Delta T readings, taken before and after every service. On this unit, we saw a 4°+ improvement. Doesn’t sound like much until Phoenix heat is going toe to toe with your air conditioner all summer.

Compare what’s listed against what’s actually done BEFORE you book. Otherwise you might just be paying for a filter wipe and calling it a service.
