New Route 66 Banners Welcome Visitors to Stroud!

New banners are now on display at both ends of Main Street along historic Highway 66, offering a colorful welcome to those entering Stroud.

The project was led by Stroud City Manager Bob Pearman and features artwork created by Stroud alumnus Jeremy Smart, Class of 2000. The banners were produced locally by Macco Promotions right here in Stroud.

The design highlights welcome messages in languages from around the world, paired with a striking Oklahoma sunset. Charles Harris posed for the banner’s central image, standing in silhouette as the sunset gleams behind him.

The finished banners bring a fresh look to Main Street while celebrating Stroud’s Route 66 identity, local talent and welcoming spirit.

There were days we had no idea what we were doing.
Just trying to figure things out as we went… hoping we were making the right calls.

Some days felt like spinning in circles.
But we kept going.

At one point, we were trying to run a pawn shop… and build an RV park at the same time. We met so many people through the shop!
We’ll tell more of that story soon.
But looking back, that was the moment things started to feel a little… chaotic.
