I happened upon this blue-ish filament and the printer was stagnant. Insert the new 2-1B files by Droid Division.

Add him to the list of slow-moving droid projects. I think I have 2-4 printed droids in the garage vying for attention yet. The Super Battle Droid and Smelter Droid come to mind. Thereā€™s also a K2 and Battle Droid that are in parts to finish.

Like the other droid build folders, Iā€™ll add to this as the project moves. For now, we have 2 halves of a head attached with some magnets. I love how DD adds this feature. It will make lights and sound easier. More on that later. I printed these in 3 layers with 5% infill. I wanted them solid in case of a drop.

It starts with just a foot.

Iā€™m mental. I canā€™t stop moving and allow my brain to not be occupied. There needs to be droid work to do at any given moment regardless of external factors. The printers were not active, so I had to take action.

Insert the Protocol Droid. In all honesty, my primary reason for wanting to build one is this sweet turquoise metallic paint I have. šŸ˜‚ Join me as I build this droid using files created by DOD3D. They are ā€œcostumeā€ parts, so the need to build a skeleton will be a new part of the process.

Now, I am sure seasoned Protocol Droid builders are gasping because I am not using the Jesse M files. After some research, I learned that the DOD files are more accurate. There is no doubt in my mind that I would forget more than once to scale up a Jesse print by 6% since this step is needed.

I do plan on adding lights and sounds. I found an inexpensive Chat GPT gizmo that will allow you to give your droid a personality and have conversations with it. More in that once we hit post-processing.

I made the decision to not go full movie replica. Technically, the hands and side wings should be the color of his body. I think I like the red better, though. And Iā€™m definitely going to pass on duplicating the paint splatter effect.
