I retired from Loudoun County Public Schools in October 2018. I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of creating art. I began drawing and painting at an early age and sold my first painting at the age of 15. While in high school, I won several awards for “Outstanding Achievement in Art”, participated in a Virginia Tech Art Shows with Honorable Mentions, displayed paintings at the Roanoke Fine Arts Center and won Best in Show for a pen and ink drawing.

There was a very long period where I dabbled in drawing and painting. I painted quite a few murals during my summers off from school. That’s when I first started posting on Facebook and gave my business the name Custom Mural Designs. Unfortunately, Facebook will not allow me to change the name of my business or start a new page. They reviewed my request but I was denied a change. I appealed with no luck.

For years, my job was taking care of my family. When my children started school, I began a career as a substitute teacher. I finished my degree in Early Childhood Education and started working as a teacher assistant. I worked in the school system for 24 years.
