As the season starts to wind down, now is a great time to start thinking about how you’re going to take care of your boat for the winter.

Here at Sebago Lake Station Auto & Marine, we’re excited to announce our newest service — TRITOON & PONTOON TRANSPORT!

We can now safely transport tritoons and pontoons up to 26 feet. Whether you need your boat moved for winter storage, service, winterization, or simply brought home for the season, we can help!

Why E15 is risky for boats:

-Most marine engines are only designed for E10 (10% ethanol) or less.
-E15 (15% ethanol) can attack rubber seals, hoses, and fuel system components, especially in older engines.
-Ethanol attracts water, which can lead to phase separation—water and ethanol drop out of the fuel and can get pulled into the engine.
-This can cause poor performance, corrosion, or even engine failure.

What to use instead:

-Stick with E0 (ethanol-free) fuel if available best option for boats.
-Otherwise, use E10, which most modern marine engines are designed to handle.
-Look for pumps labeled “Up to 10% ethanol” or “E10.” Avoid anything labeled E15, E20, or E85.

Extra tip:
If your boat sits between uses, a fuel stabilizer can help reduce moisture issues and keep fuel from breaking down.

This is one of those cases where a small mistake at the pump can turn into a very expensive repair, so the warning is worth repeating especially at the start of boating season
