If you get a notification that Java needs to be updated do not click on the link. Go to www.java.com verify the address bar address after you get to the site. It should say https://www.java.com/en. If that is correct click on download and then run.
Three folks crashed their computers last week because they clicked on the pop-up. If you have already clicked on the link, run your anti-virus scan and anti-malware scan at once.
Never, ever update any software from a pop-up.

Microsoft is aware of the problem.
No very comforting is it.
In a effort to close the leak in some processors, Microsoft's has issued an update to fix the problem. But what it is doing it is crashing computers around the country. If your computer did an update and will not boot anymore. Do not reload windows. Call 615 667-1878

Today we are not getting out in "the crazy driver challenge". It would be a good day for us to update your computer to our new remote software if we have not already done so. We only have until the 16th of this month to do it remotely. After the 16th we will need to either come to your site or do it with you over the phone. If you want to continue with remote access support please call 615 667-1878 ASAP

I know we've posted this before but it seems like we need to do it again.
On Facebook,
If someone is using your profile picture and name you have not been hacked, they have stolen your identity. Changing your password will not help.

So what can you do? Go the fake profile and look on the right side of the screen , next to Message, for three dots … Click on the three dots and go to report. Follow the prompts and report it to Facebook. They are usually very responsive and most of the time the fake profile is down in the hour.

Why did this happen, because they are crooks and want to send out friend request to your friends list. Once someone responds they usually send a private message. The PM will contain spam or fraudulent offers for get-rich-quick schemes.

If you are friends with someone and that person sends you another friend request it is from a fake profile every time. Report it to Facebook using the method above. It seems that the more people that report it the faster it goes down.

NO we will not open a video sent in FB Messenger. Best way there is to spread a virus. No matter who it is from we will not open it.
If you were smart you would not either.
If you want us to see your cute video send it as an email attachment where we can scan it first.
Don't have our email address, that we will give you in a FB Private Message if you ask and we know who your are.
Do not be fooled into opening a video because a "friend" sent it and claims it is virus free.
Not a scrooge, just safe practices.
Merry CHRISTmas

The latest Mozilla Firefox is now available, with lots of new features and it appears to run faster the the old version.
It is Firefox Quantum 57.0. So be ready for scammers to try to get you to upgrade from their scam emails.
We suggest that even if you are positive the email is from Firefox do not to the upgrade from the email.
Open Firefox
click on Help
then About.
Firefox will then update automatically to the latest version.
If it does not there is no update available.
If you do not help at the top, click on the 3 bars on the right and then Help and about. As always if you are having trouble call 615 667-1878

Alert: You need the latest version of Windows 10 1709 because of security fixes, it is a must do upgrade. BUT!

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom, has removed the ability to upgrade from early versions of Windows 10 to the newest version just released Windows 10 1709. They have also removed the previous versions from their web sites so you can not download them and upgrade manually. So what they suggest is, if you want the latest version and you are currently using a 1500 series version you need totally wipe and load your system with the latest version. Leaving you with hours of backing up your files, loading Windows 10 1709 and your software and then restoring your files. Something most users do not have the resources or the technical ability and patience to do.

Don't do it, we have the fix to get the latest versions your systems without doing all that.

Windows 10 releases:
Version 1709 (OS build 16299)
Version 1703 (OS build 15063)
Version 1607 (OS build 14393)

Currently No upgrade path from Microsoft to newer versions
Version 1511 (OS build 10586)
Version 1507 (RTM) (OS build 10240)

Advanced Password Manager is not something you need to install. It is malware and will steal information you put into it. It appears as a red status bar and the bottom of your browser. It displays a warning that you are at risk and asks you to download it. Do not do it you will be compromised the first time you use it.

PSA, Windows restore points (while they can and do serve a useful purpose) will not necessarily fix all your problems. It may in fact make them worse. Restore points can and will remove software and change settings. That may not be what you want to do in most situations. It is a good idea to check with us before you make a fatal and costly mistake.

90% of the time we do not charge for phone support. Call before you choose this option. It could save you hours of heartache reloading from scratch.

On-Site Service is what we do.
We come to you.

Do you have a touch screen computer? We are asked all the time “How do I clean my touch screen”.
A touch screen uses the moisture in your finger to work. So be aware anything damp will make it go crazy.
Always turn it off before your clean it. Spray your liquid cleaner on a soft cloth, I prefer a towel. Damp not wet it best. After your cloth is damp clean the screen. Turn the cloth over and dry. Never spray directly on the screen, it can ruin your screen.
Leave the computer off for at least 30 minutes for it to dry. A damp screen will act very erratic and cause your computer to be unresponsive, and generally go crazy.
Do not use paper products they will scratch the surface of the screen.

Apparently this needs to be said again with the rash of cloning accounts and people STILL saying it was hacked and changing your password will fix it. It will not fix the problem. Only reporting the fake profile to Facebook will fix the problem.

People, People, People. Don't get sucked in by the FIXMESTICK ad on TV for $9.99. It is just a trial version and will do nothing but set you up for more charges up to $299.00. Anytime you see these WILD claims, be very skeptical. While the paid version can and does fix some problems (not much), it does not live up to the WILD claims. The internet is full of people praising it's virtues but I suspect these are paid shills for the company. If you go to credible sites you will find tons of negative posts.

Yes you computer can be fixed, no we will not charge you hundreds of dollars it remove malware and spyware.

FIXMESTICK does not remove all (any) ransomware encryption on your files. They will still be encrypted after it is used and will probably hinder a real technician from recovering your files at all.

If you suspect you are a victim of ransomware turn your computer off at once and call us 615 667 1878.

If your computer is running slow or infected call and setup an appointment for us to come to your location and clean it up for you.

If you are using Windows 10 and AVG anti-virus you need to keep AVG updated. If you don't and Windows installs an update you may get a black screen with a message about Watchdog and AVG. The computer will freeze at that screen and will not go into Windows 10. This is an AVG problem not a Windows 10 problem. You do not need to reload or reset your computer. At that point you need to call 615 667-1878 and schedule a service call to get your system up and going again. We come to you.

Well it was eventual, that Microsoft would start pushing AUTOMATIC upgrades to Windows 10. While we like Windows 10 there are several reasons why some users may not want to upgrade. If you are one of those users you need to call us and schedule a visit to insure you are not automatically updated. Call us at 615 667-1878 We come to you.

05/11/2016

Well July 29, 2016 is approaching, that is the cut off for the free upgrade to windows 10. After that is will be $119.00.

So should you upgrade, if you are running Windows 8 or 8.1 the answer probably is yes. If you are running Windows 7 the answer may not be as easy.

Microsoft Windows 7 service pack 1 is very stable and will be supported until Jan 10, 2020. If you are not running service pack 1 with Windows 7 you need to call and get that handled.

If you are on Windows 7 SP1 and would like to upgrade to Windows 10 there are some things you need to do first.

Give us a call @ 615 667-1878

This week I have had 3 customers fall for the scam with the toll free number that pops up on your computer. It is a total scam all they want is money ($389.00) and whatever they can steal off your computer. If it happens to you and you can not get out of the screen just call and we will help. I know it is convincing and they are professional criminals that can make you think they are legitimate, but they are not. Do not let them on your computer! 615 667-1878
