Good morning! We felt it necessary to make a post on a trailer that came in for brakes not working. As you can see in the pictures, they are covered in grease. This is usually caused by someone that tries to grease their axles every so often or before long trips. It is recommended depending on how many miles you put on a trailer to have a yearly repack done or at least looked at that can usually cost around $100 per axle that can save you around $1200-$1500 (7-8k axle). In this customers situation, someone has so much grease in the hub that it blew out the back seal and therefore grease covered the brake drum and the brakes causing the trailer not to want to stop. So what we recommend is if you do decide to use a grease gun to only pump a few pumps of grease in there between your yearly maintenance or before a long road trip. You just have to remember everything you pump in there will eventually feel the hub completely and cause more damage than good.
