Today is a bittersweet day.

Today marks the closing of Gr8 Buy Auto & Detail and the start of Gr8 Auto Detail & Rental.

Growing up, Larry was gone a lot for work. He managed project apartment complexes in rough parts of bigger cities. It wasn’t a glamorous job, but it put food on the table and paid bills.

No matter where he was working, he always talked about owning a car lot with detail center someday.

On the side, he bought and sold cars whenever he could. Most of them were what we called his “icky trucks.” It felt like there was always another one parked in the driveway. Looking back, we didn’t realize we were watching him build toward his dream one vehicle at a time.

He did that for years. He worked his full-time job during the week and spent his free time buying and selling budget cars. He never gave up on the dream.

Then, in July 2013, the ground broke at 1501 W. Wisconsin St. in Sparta. Later that year, the doors opened. After years of hard work, sacrifice, and believing in himself, he finally had the car lot he had dreamed about for so long.

Today, that chapter comes to an end. The building and lot have been sold.

But this isn’t the end of the story.

Today also marks the beginning of Gr8 Auto Detail & Rental at 118 W. Wisconsin St.

He’s stepping into what we’re calling his “half retirement.” He’ll still be involved, but mostly behind the scenes. Chris and Brandon will be the faces you’ll see every day, and we know they’ll continue taking great care of every customer who walks through the door.

We’re so proud of you. We watched your dream become reality. We watched the long hours, the risks, the setbacks, and the victories. You built something from the ground up, and no one can ever take that away from you.

Congratulations on your half retirement. You earned every bit of it. We love you.

BIG NEWS! 🚗✨

After many years, Gr8Buy Auto & Detail Center has been sold!

Before anyone panics—don't worry! We're keeping the detail shop and rental cars. We're simply moving them to a new location and starting a new chapter as:

✨ Gr8 Auto Detail & Rental ✨

The property has been sold and will become an entirely different business, but we'll still be here helping keep your vehicles clean and providing rental vehicles when you need them (reserve at driveoscar.com)!

Our last day as Gr8Buy Auto & Detail Center will be July 24, 2026.

We are incredibly thankful for all of the customers who have supported us over the years. Your loyalty, referrals, and friendships have meant the world to us.
