The count down to this amazing event is on ~ 43 more days. It is not everyday that I wake up with thoughts at what an extremely fortunate American I am, I wish I did! This event gets right in my face to show me a fraction of people that served, to honor those living and taken, who have sacrificed for our country. We see "numbers" everyday but to see those numbers represented by riders and those lining the streets cheering, thanking, saluting IS humbling. I look forward to this yearly ride if nothing more than to renew my gratitude with a humbled spirit to those that have said "Yes, I'll go."

I was messaged by a gal asking how I gear up for cold weather riding ~ It is indeed COLD out there right now! My first day out (April 1) for a very short ride in the afternoon with the temps at about 39-42 degrees was freakin' cold!! Definitely wearing my long SmartWool ski socks (awesome $ LL Bean outlet), tall leather boots, leather chaps over my jeans, thermal henley top, an HD sweatshirt (duh!) my FirstGear heated jacket liner under my vintage leather jacket, my FirstGear glove liners under my leather gauntlet riding gloves, a neck gaiter and a bandana over my face, my HD helmet ~ I hadn't gotten 5 miles down a backroad and the exposed part of my face felt at risk of frost bite! Yeah, it ain't sexy I know but a girl's gotta ride!!
