I have the piston sleeve resizing tool by EBMods. A friend sent me his Novarossi engine to pinch the sleeve but I could not do it due to not having the proper gauge pin. I contacted Ed with my issue. He promptly responded with an email saying he did some research and had found the proper gauge pin size to complete pinches on Novarossi sleeves.

Shot out to Ed for the prompt response and getting me what I need to do the job right. I highly recommend Ed Bridges. EBMods, and his tools.

P.S. Novarossi guys you can thank me later by letting me pass on the straight. 😂😂😂

Engine inspection for Jacob, Salt Lake City who is a referral from Kody O'Dell. Jacob is nrw to nitro racing and asked I take look at his Novarossi Bonita 7XLB engine that came with a car he bought used. Engine is in fair condition. Perfect for someone just getting started and still learning. When you see Jacob at the track this spring make sure you say hello!

1) Oil Bath: Engine is totally submerged in oil during the break-in process. Break-in process is conducted in a controlled environment (temperature and operation). $55 with shipping included. $40 local.

2) Oil-Running: Engine is broken-in using oil that is constantly run through the engine. Break-in process is conducted in a controlled environment (temperature and operation). $55 shipping included. $40 local.

Did you know there are two types of “pinch” when it comes to your nitro engine?

1) Mechanical - this is where the piston stops in the sleeve (usually top dead center) when the engine is hot (~200F)

2) Static - this is where the piston stops in the sleeve when the engine is cold.

It’s important to understand both as they affect the longevity and performance of your engine.

Why? Well…the higher the level of mechanical pinch the more stress put on the conrod making it vulnerable to failure. No bueno.

The point of breaking-in your engine is to eliminate mechanical pinch. An engine that is properly broken-in and the mechanical pinch gone will last longer because the micro-tolerances between the piston and sleeve are perfect. You maintain these perfect tolerances through tuning of the carb.

Performing an oil-based break-in removes the mechanical pinch while simultaneously reducing the level of stress placed on the conrod during the process.
