Like & Follow to get updates as we travel the country, tear up some race tracks and generally have a great time. Welcome to the Street Survivalist Tire Rack One Lap of America page, where you can follow the adventures of two car guys while they attempt to survive an 8-day, 3,500-mile driving adventure. We'll visit 15 states, 10 racing venues, dozens of fast food joints, and a bunch of roa

dside hotels, all while trying not to drive each other crazy. This year rookie Miles Barden joins Joe Woodward in another attempt to bring home victory in the SSGT2 Small Bore class while promoting awareness of teen driving education. Joe is a long-time road racer, and spent 4 years competing in the SCCA Spec Miata class. He was the Central Division champion in 2004, and placed 3rd in 2005. He also raced in the Spec E30 class with NASA in 2006 & 2007, and finished 6th at Nationals in 2006. Also 2nd place in the SCCA SBR G stock championship 2015. Miles is the Retail Store Manager for Tire Rack and has been autocrossing since 2006. His previous autocross cars include a 2006 Pontiac Solstice and 2007 Mazda RX-8. He'll be running a 2007 Civic Si in HS this year with fellow employee Frank "Rex" Vest.

This hat lived every day of One Lap on Miles' head.

It saw 3500 Miles, 18 driving events at 8 venues, 3 push starts of Joe's Miata, 1 starter change plus 4 morning wrenching sessions, dozens of new friends, ~30 gas stops and at least 5 "Are you in some sort of cross-country race or somethin'?" comments.

It looks like it has lived a lifetime in the course of a week. But what it really represents is an amazing time with great people that will be remembered forever.

Just like every morning this week Joe and Miles started the day with wrenching on the car. 🔧🔩

The brakes were soft at Dominion so Joe swapped in the backup race pads. We'll need to adjust the bias to compensate for the compound change when we get to the track.

Miles checked out many nuts and bolts and found them all secure.

Then about 5 miles from Joe's house the right side hood pin came loose on the highway! We pulled over and tightened it back up and continued on our way to Gingerman.

Just another regular morning for

Back to where the V6 was inspired. A great photo of Joe and Misfit, thanks GRM!

As Joe and Miles ponder just what day of the week it is, it's cool to see Tire Rack post a look back to day 1 and the wet skidpad.

Miles and Joe are headed out from Dominion Raceway on their way to Gingerman. This will be the longest transit all week at just under 700 miles.

Following the guide book we'll skip 95 in favor of some country roads so we won't get stuck in DC traffic. We're in good company with the team just ahead.
