Had a great morning the other day helping out the South Dakota State University Wild Hare Racing formula SAE team with some tuning and computer setup. If you aren't aware this program puts together just about every field of engineering and focuses it on building an open wheel race car to compete against other engineering schools. They are a great group of students who are incredibly intelligent and willing to learn. Plus I get to put my teaching hat on for a change!

In this video it doesn't have a body on it or paint but follow them to watch the car's progress if you want something positive and interesting on your feed!

Trophy trucks? Why not?! This LS3 powered beast had some wiring harness issues and a misfire to sort out. Then we dialed in a tune that should have this engine surviving 5000rpm for..... However long 40 gallons of premium lasts. And then again and again after that 😁.

Full sized Escalade on the rollers to touch things up now that we have an AWD Dyno 😁. I'm happy that it only needed some very minor changes from the street tune we did on it. We were able to squeeze another 15 horsepower out of it though while still being completely safe for this thing to do cross country road trips with its cammed 6.2 l V8.

Just a general PSA. There is a baro sensor in the MAF on LT engines. If you add boost pre MAF sensor you MUST install a baro breakout harness (pictured). All of the air mass, torque model, and throttle angle calcs in the car reference this baro sensor. Heck even the VVT system uses it. If it sees anything but atmosphere you are going to have a bad time.

This poor car got tuned without this breakout installed so sadly we have to scrap the entire tune and start over. Those little issues that just need a "touchup" rarely just need a touchup or the last guy would have done it.
