❗️TRAVEL ALERT | ROAD CLOSURE US 550 South of Silverton ❗️

UPDATE - 6 a.m. (12/13/21) - Crashed vehicle recovery operations will continue on US 550 just south of Silverton today beginning at 11 a.m. Travelers can expect lengthy stops to allow the tow company to pull up a semi truck and trailer that crashed down an embankment last week. Recovery operations could take several hours.

Traffic will be stopped southbound at Silverton and northbound near Molas Lake. Travelers are urged to plan ahead for this closure. Drive with caution and watch for tow and flagging personnel.

After five hours of frigid work on Saturday, tow company personnel decided to postpone continued operations until today in an attempt to wait for warmer temperatures and safer conditions.
