I know, it doesn't really look exciting given the still-shot context and, certainly more than boring if only I had included the banshee-like cry of the 7,000 rpm run in the video that it was married to. But, that isn't going to be my point. Rather I would tell you it represents a very brief moment where data is being collected and recorded so that I can review it frame by frame to understand...genuinely have an inside view of what has happened instead of relying on my recollection of events which...well, will most assuredly find themselves as I recall them to be, even given my best efforts to be honest, to my benefit as...it is human nature. "Yeah, that felt good, package it, ship it, I am convinced" So, down in the right hand corner you'll notice red, blue, green squiggly lines all reporting the actual events and, they are by all rights dynamic, ever-changing as the engine and her functions are too dynamic, never static they respond as they should.. looking all dinasour- backed hill and valley. So the punch-line, long in the tooth as it may be.... If we were to log the truth the same way I log spark, fuel, airmass, the very base things that we understand to be without question, without challenge, that they abide by the laws of physics that dictate EVERYTHING we understand to be true..you would notice the one thing that these lines cannot replicate no matter what I know, no matter what I do even if I tried my hardest to cheat it would I fail. The line that represents what is true would be totally static, a flat-liner, no excitement, no drama, no need for interpretation as it is...simply true....today as it was one thousand years ago and one thousand from today, she will be unflinching, no spikes, no dips, not even a wavering. So whether it is that you are calibrating a piece of machinery or, making a decision about....ANYTHING, remember this. The truth does not care about what you think, what you wish to be true, who you are, the beliefs that you hold close nor the circumstances for which we find ouselves. And, if we take the ball and run hard as we might in the opposite direction...even for all of our efforts, it will not change the baseline, the truth. So that eventually we will have to come to a reckoning with it be it sooner or later but, you will do just that come hell or high water. Divorce what is true at your peril as it will wait a thousand years to collect a debt. Okay, next post will be some car looking for small children to suck through it's intake and tires blazing and smoke and fury.. I promise.

I've not posted anything for so long that I may... or may not be posting a message as I remember them to be. Yeah, say it loudly enough that I can hear it... I am without question that old regardless of my owning it. So as to be honest and share my feelings with the "group", I have a guilty conscience of sorts in that, I have become numb to the many projects of real value. They have come and gone.... gone without any mention at all.... without fanfare, completely absent of a drivers critique to any one car or her mysterious nuances that force you that "longer than normal" stare... subtle qualities that make any one girl stand out from another and you know what I speak of. That her undeniable if not magnetic attraction finds itself just out of reach of our logic-driven justification for her personal possession. None the less, the desire she fetches from the masses serves as legitimacy. So, we enjoy sprinkles on our ice cream as well but ,for different reasons. For any one long and tall contestant to infatuate you to the point of owning your heart....well, she must command not only your admiration but, your respect of her capabilities as well and... likely eclipsing your own should you confess the truth of it. For that I am genuinely sorry. My child-like love for beautiful, fast machinery has been the very genesis of what has become an overwhelming demand by those equally hypnotized by sensually stretched metal and the promise of adrenal-loving fear...it's inexplicable yet welcomed absolution of power over our mundane and daily logic . Super-late nights and weekends are the by-product of potential legends that wait patiently for the appropriate attention they are due. We are BUSY to the point of an unconscious pee-break austarity. I know that is of little comfort to those who are in need (or the desire..so that we are honest) of the demands of having the machinery that they view so vividly as an extension of themselves to be at their fighting weight. We are without question committed to the final product as it shares in her name with our reputation...above all. It is most regrettable that we have lost a valued friend and technician to a shop whose soul is based on form rather than the genuine function or performance but, to all of those who have paid the bill for us, the pursuit of happiness is a right I stand behind without question. We, as a team dictate the genuine quality and hard-earned reputation as the "go-to" when others have washed their hands of culpability and resolution and remain committed to the very standards we demand of ouselves and without excuse. To that I will add the obvious (you knew there was a catch...right?) That we are indeed in search of a GENUINE technician, Master-certified and with a Delta-like disdain for conventional thought and rules. Those of you who know us best know that we are a flip-flop wearing, late-to-work without an excuse, outside of the box thinking, "yes, we can diagnose and repair what the dealer cannot", do as we please so long as the product is perfect on delivery" team. So that I bare my thoughts as they are, as an aside...did you ever think to yourself..."Man..I can't believe they left me in charge like I'm an adult?" and then realize for all of your perceived short-comings.....you are? Yeah....me too, and I'm still wrapped too tight.

I've become a facebbook recluse. It's true and, any defense I offer wouldn't matter regardless of merit. But a moment like this whereby I get to gaze at the world through another view and realize it's significance is the smelling salts necessary to compel the need to share. Tomorrow our technician Bobby, is set to race in the American Endurance Racing event at Summit Point Raceway's eight hour race where he will be driving car #695 pictured here. The race will be live broadcast on youtube where you can see Bobby explore the limits of adhesion and know that, by the way, that's the guy ( aka Bobby Volkswagon, Bobby Porsche, Bobby Audi) that works on my car! Bobby has been racing for years and holds his instructors license so it is always with a tinge of amazement when we go for a road test together that I see his hands carefully at ten and two and at or below the posted speeds. Time and a place for everything I suppose which is why this event isn't being hosted on Plank road as I had suggested to the sanctioning body but, maybe next year. Good luck Bobby, and have more fun than you were intended to!

With all that's been going on, including feeling like I've moved to England with all of the rain, I wanted to share a little ray of black sunshine. She's clearly a looker, now we just need to breathe some life into her. A 5.7 shaker Hemi with an automatic has oodles of potential. Years ago when you heard automatic trans, it was as though you had let all the air out of my balloon. These days it's cause for excitement, because not only am I going to tune the engine management, I'm also going to tune what is arguably the most advanced transmission of the day, and the finished product speaks for itself. She gets top of the line Kooks long tube headers and retains the rest of the factory exhaust. The sound is like no other, stealthy, but very tight, and very angry. Evacuating the cylinders more efficiently allows me to explore spark more aggressively, re-mapping expected throttle and pedal kills the useless first quarter of pedal travel, and re-mapping the ZF8 eight speed trans pulls this unit together to make it a joy to drive. In all there are over ninety tables that require re-mapping but the end product is a far cry from how she left the factory and a strong argument for why my wife should let me have one.....baby, in case you're reading this, I love you and am so glad that you want me to be happy.

Why do we insist on our technicians being Master-certified? Why do we insist on Advanced level specialists? It's simple. We're not in the business of being incorrect. Ever. Whether it's the tire you keep having to add air to because a shop has insisted there's nothing wrong with it or, an incorrect diagnosis which has led you to spend hundreds of dollars without resolution because of someones gamble that turned out to be wrong, we know you've experienced it because our industry is rife with examples of it daily. We're not gamblers. We're data collectors and problem-solvers. We commit to a repair when we've verified the failure and the evidence and repair prove it. Anyone that tells you automotive diagnosis and repair is not an exact science is lying to themselves and by proxy to you. If you think the scan tools, programmers, laptops, thermal imager , camera and software pictured in our shop are excessive, I'm here to vouch for their capabilities, they're not. If the accumulated credentials of our Master technicians seem excessive, they're not. And if you think that properly executed service each and every time is impossible, it's not. For those of you who have experience with us servicing and diagnosing your vehicles, you know we take pride in being trouble-shooters and logical thinkers with a pragmatic approach to resolving issues. We are applying the same strategy to the complications that have arisen with the COVID-19 virus and are implementing a pick-up and delivery service for vehicle needs. We have also adopted a local medical facilities template for cleaning and disinfecting the interior cabin of your vehicle prior to the drop-off service. In the interest of social-distancing, remote payment has always and will continue to be an option. While we seem to focus mostly on performance given the posts we do here on facebook, I want everyone to know that we spend the majority of our time diagnosing and repairing the drivability issues, engine lights, traction, vsc, stability, abs lights, and even issues that do not illuminate lights but that you as the driver recognize as an issue, even if the telltale lights are not illuminated. We pride ourselves in being the final word when it comes to issues that other shops cannot or will not address. With that, for those of you dealing with the Honda v6 oil consumption, repeated broken engine mounts and even the lack-luster performance of their eco or economy system, we have engineered our own solution to the issue with our own take on how it should be done. And while we like Honda motor company, their solution to date, as a result of a class action lawsuit, is not a permanent solution as we see it. We are beginning manufacture of a revised design harness that will keep your six cylinder operating as a six cylinder without the annoying displacement on demand four cylinder mode which is the genesis of the oil consumption you're likely suffering from, the misfires and blinking engine light from carbon-ash fouled spark plugs, and the dreaded tip-in hesitation that occurs when you want your Odyssey, Pilot, Accord to hustle. Within the next two weeks we will release the resolution to these problems and will keep you posted. When we have a client ask us what we can do to upgrade their cars performance, I feel like that parent or grandparent walking around with a load of photos on their phone of their children or grandchildren just waiting to unload a hundred gigs of pix on anyone who dares ask how the kids are. So in this bag o 'tricks is a set of 3.90 gears to keep the bottom end of a lumpy cam from getting too soggy, an uprgaded transmission and Mcleod twin disc because, well we won't use anything else, a grip tec supercharger pulley and Pro-m**h (alcohol injection systems) injection to come in at 7 psi. And while there's a good set of sticky tires on the back, it doesn't really matter, they don't really have a fighting chance. Props to our GM Master Tyler Nicolaisen for the super clean install and his initial recommendation of how much m**h to spray which was "All of it". By the way, he's also clearly talented at putting video together so you won't have to watch me flipping cards with pictures of cars in order to simulate actual movement any longer.

When I get a phone call regarding the object of someone's desire, I make it a habit to lock myself away in a quiet area. It's typically a car in the dyno bay that serves like Maxwell Smarts cone of silence( yeah, I'm that old). So this guy is going on about a number of things he wants done and as I'm making notes I hear "...and when I heel-toe, I notice...." Did he he just heel-toe me? You mean I've got a guy who wants this thing to actually handle too? Yeah, sweet. See, thing is we see a few of these ladies and typically the order of the day is "Yeah, make it break the sound barrier". A respectable wish no doubt, but my hand to God the first guy that suggested his 500 should compete in the curves. Story is, the car is fresh out of the body shop where the owner describes the body mods, the paint ( I dig grabber blue..alot) and the 13 front end skillfully grafted to his 10. Oh yeah, and how a deer hit HIM a year ago.( I'm pretty sure the deer has a different view of events) While I road test everything before and after, I know this one goes to my personal hitman Chris. I toss him the keys after my road test and tell him to have at and let me know what he thinks. Twenty odd minutes later I hear the 500 pull up. "So?" I ask. Chris looks at me and says "It's another tractionless piece of s***!" Yeah, he's right, it's a set of shopping cart wheels with a blower. Mind you there are a host of components fitted to the suspension of this car that should, if properly used should make her quite crafty through the switchbacks. Chris readily identifies multiple errors in it's set-up. He's gifted with understanding the motion of the car and the purpose of the part to counter-act even when she's sitting still. Carefull attention to detail, from suspension,to tire selection, tune and alignment make this a 500 that even equipped Z06's can respect in the twisties. Anything can go fast but, can you keep her out of the weeds?
