Join Our Team and Make a Difference
Are you looking to give back to your community, gain valuable leadership experience, and learn emergency preparedness skills? The Ocean State Disaster Team is seeking motivated and dependable Junior Members to join our growing volunteer team.
As a Junior Member, you'll work alongside experienced adult volunteers while learning about disaster preparedness, community service, teamwork, and leadership in a safe and supervised environment.
Responsibilities
Assist with community outreach events and public education programs.
Help organize and distribute disaster relief supplies.
Support donation drives and community service projects.
Assist with administrative tasks during events.
Participate in training sessions and team meetings.
Represent Ocean State Disaster Team professionally in the community.
Follow all safety policies and instructions from adult supervisors.
Requirements
Must be between 14 and 17 years old.
Parent or legal guardian consent is required.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Reliable transportation to meetings and events (when applicable).
Attend required trainings and scheduled volunteer activities.
Maintain professional behavior and follow OSDT policies.

Physical Requirements
Some volunteer activities may require:
Standing for extended periods.
Lifting up to 25 pounds.
Working outdoors during community events.
Following safety guidelines while assisting with disaster relief operations.
Important Information
Junior Members will not participate in hazardous emergency response operations. All activities are age-appropriate and conducted under the supervision of trained adult volunteers in accordance with organizational policies.

The Ocean State Disaster Team is proud to invite you, your organization, family, and friends to participate in our Good Night Lights Event on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Good Night Lights is a special event dedicated to brightening the spirits of children and families at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Participants gather at designated locations and shine lights, flashlights, glow sticks, vehicle lights, and other illuminated items to create a powerful display of support, hope, and encouragement.

Gathering Time: 8:00 PM
Lights On: 8:30 PM
Event Ends: 9:00 PM

• India Point Park Parking Lot
• Bold Point Park
• Entrance to Collier Point Park
• East Bay Bike Path Overlook

Our goal is simple: to bring smiles, hope, and encouragement to children receiving care at Hasbro Children's Hospital and to remind families that our community is thinking of them.
