The Blue Ridge Facilities staff (Blue Ridge Response Team) built this beauty of a time machine (yes, off the clock). With the iconic wood side panels and the surfboard, this classic Wagoneer replica put the good times at full down hill speed.... of gravity speed that is!
Derby Down the Deuce is a gravity style derby race where the participants can build ANYTHING they want as long as it is under 500 lbs (driver included), it must steer and it stops (WELL). Stay tuned as registration forms are coming soon!

SAVE THE DATE!
Derby Down the Deuce 2024 is July 13th from 8am till 10am. The Deuce of Clubs gets shut down at 7:45am and the huge task of setting up the course in under 15 mins begins. There are over 500 full sized tires that are used to ensure the safety of our spectators and racers. Big thanks to Navajo County for the use of these tires that are slated for recycling. All these tires get to enjoy one last race before heading to the recycle plant.

Yes, you are seeing that right! this derby car was made for riding high in the front!!! and the driver rode this wheelie for quite a while...... but it did end up getting into some trouble and the rear wheels couldn't take all the stress. Pic in the comments of its final resting place. Thankfully, no one was injured. There is a testing of the cars for braking and steering as well as weight requirements the night before to help ensure the safety of all our drivers and spectators. But it IS a derby... and let's no lie to ourselves, the whole point is to watch things go downhill!!!

We love having local charities participate! This Viking Ivar and his not so long ship graced us from the Medieval Mayhem. Medieval Mayhem is held the same weekend as the derby and just a few blocks away. With the veil of Time removed, you can find yourself laughing with maids, feasting on feasts, watching Knights do Knightly stuff.... and then you might bump into Ivar and his not-so-long-ship-of-land/

Did you know this race is THE ONLY race in Arizona where ADOT shuts down a US and a state highway (US-60 and AZ-260) for a race? Making this the only state sanctioned street race, right here in the white mountains

Derby Down the Deuce is so happy that we have been able to allow our special needs community to participate. Special cars have been constructed to allow a special needs individual to enjoy the thrill of racing down the town's historic main street, The Deuce of Clubs. Big thanks to Show Low PD for building these cars and being a part of our community! this may be the only time it's ok to race past a cop car and feel OK about it!
