🕊️ A SAD DAY FOR HAZZARD COUNTY AND THE TOWING FAMILY 🕊️
Today, we remember Ben Jones—forever known to millions of us as Cooter Davenport.
For those of us in the towing industry, Cooter was always a little extra special. Long before many of us ever climbed behind the wheel of a tow truck ourselves, we watched Cooter’s tow truck rolling through Hazzard County and saw him working out of Cooter’s Garage—always ready to turn a wrench, hook up a car, or help the Duke boys out of another jam.
The Dukes of Hazzard was more than just a television show. For so many people, it was part of growing up. The General Lee, the Hazzard County patrol cars, Boss Hogg, Rosco, Daisy, Bo and Luke — and of course, Cooter and his tow truck — created memories that have lasted for generations.
As a towing company, we’re especially proud to remember a man who represented our profession on one of the most iconic television shows of its time. Cooter made the local mechanic and tow truck driver a hero in his own right—the guy you could always count on when you needed a hand.
Those of us who still love these cars, preserve them, take them to shows, and keep the memories of Hazzard County alive understand just how special that legacy is.
From all of us at Quality Towing NJ, we send our heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers to his wife, Alma, his family, friends, fellow cast members, and the entire Dukes of Hazzard family during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you, Ben, for the laughs, the memories, the tow trucks, and for giving the towing community a special place in Hazzard County.
The garage may be a little quieter today, but Cooter will never be forgotten. ❤️🕊️
Rest in peace, Ben Jones. Thank you for a lifetime of memories.
