Yesterday we had a GREAT day helping a client on the water. We ended the day taking the big Locks back in and got to raft up to “Alaskan Mariner”. No surprises here, like all of their boats, beautiful and well taken care of. Although we were only out for the day, they had just returned from a 21 day trip to Whittier, AK. I’m sure they were much happier to be back. Special thanks to Capt. Adrian for letting us ride up with them.

IF All Lives REALLY Mattered...
Lots of people misunderstand the black lives matter movement. For those that are confused about this it’s not that other lives don’t matter it’s that black lives matter AS WELL/TOO/ALSO! It’s about equality, NOT about leaving anyone out. If was really mattered than there would be no need for the movement. The change starts with ALL OF US.

10 years ago from mid March thru May Ian got to be a part of a what he calls “The best job ever” with in Juneau, AK. It became know as “The PK job” or The SS Princess Kathleen defuel job.
The SS Princess Kathleen was a passenger and freight steamship owned and operated by Canadian Pacific Steamships. She served the coastal communities of British Columbia, Alaska and Washington.
She was commissioned in Glasgow, Scotland and launched in September of 1924. First spent time moving people and charge between Seattle and Vancouver, Canada. In 1939 she was requisitioned along with her sister ship Princesse Marguerite by the Royal Canadian Navy for use as a troop ship. Princesse Marguerite was lost in action but Princess Kathleen was returned to Canadian Pacific in 1947 and resumed service. Due to high demand for automobile traffic 1949 Canadian Pacific transferer her to the Vancouver-Alaska cruise along the inside passage. Unfortunately, On Sept 7, 1952 around 3am local time the Princess Kathleen ran aground at Lena Point just a few miles north of downtown Juneau. Luckily everyone onboard was able to get off the bost before the tide was about to come up, swamp her back deck and she slid into the water and sank in 50-180’ of water.
In spring of 2010 Global Diving was contracted to remove the remaining fuel oil from her tanks. Their divers performed hot tapping operations in order to remove the 130,000+ gallons of remaining fuel. You can see more pictures and read more about the project on Global’s website at gdiving.com. @ Lena Point

10 YEARS AGO TODAY
Today is the 10th anniversary of The Deepwater Horizon accident. This was a horrific accident that could’ve been avoided. 11 families lost a loved one and 17 people were injured. Not to mention the environmental damage due to the 4.9 million barrels of oil that spilled. This is yet another example of why you can not put a price on safety.
We would like to extend our condolences to those who lost a loved one that day.🍀
