A LITTLE CRAZY – The owner of a new boat came to us looking for a “reasonable” system. His previous boat had a really high-end setup and, in his own words, he didn’t want to “go crazy” on this one. We listened to what he wanted and recommended a Kicker setup due to the price point he wanted. We went with a Sony DSXM80 marine radio with a Kicker controller for the rear of the boat. For speakers we used four 6.5-inch Kicker marine, two 8-inch Kicker marine, and two Kicker 10-inch marine subs. Power came from a Kicker 51KXMA15001 bass amp and a 48KSMA8008 8-channel amp for the highs. It sounded great, but the customer regretted not “going crazy” and decided to add more. He ended up bringing the boat back to add two more sets of 8-inch speakers, Kicker Pro audio horn tweeters, another four-channel amp, and a third sub. LOVE THE BIG SCREEN – The owner of a 2018 Chevy Silverado came to us wanting the best upgrade available on the head unit. He wanted it to have the latest features but to look stock, not like something bolted on. What better stereo than the Stinger Horizon 10 for this job? GOTTA HAVE BETTER SOUND – The owner of a new-to-him 2023 Ford Bronco made a discovery: he is not used to the sound of original factory speakers. He asked us to work with him to create a nice setup. We upgraded the front speakers, used bigger pods for 6.5-inch speakers on the back, and attached the Stinger box to the tail gate. An AudioControl subwoofer powered by an EPIC750 delivered just the right amount of bass. The owner was very happy with the results and left thinking about adding a four-channel amplifier for even better sound. LAKE READY – The owner of a newly purchased boat came to us with an obvious problem: it was in need of a serious sound upgrade. He wanted something that would be clean, loud and not take up any storage space when it came to subwoofers. We started going through the JL Audio marine products, including infinite baffle subwoofers that do not require a box to produce good bass. We landed on a system with two JL Audio XDM amplifiers, pairing everything with the eight-channel and the 1000-Watt mono. Now it was time to make the system come to life, and we installed three pairs of 6.5-inch M6 marine speakers. To make sure we got plenty of bass fill we added two M6 10-inch subwoofers. The high-end Kenwood KDCX305 radio ensured that we had clean signal. The owner’s next step was to get a new Bimini top, and he was excited to hit the lake and enjoy his new sound system. READY FOR A RIDE – The owner of a new side-by-side came in, wanting to enjoy music while cruising around. We helped him pick out a great sounding system that he would love! The Kicker KMC3 head unit gives him Bluetooth features and a radio that can stand up to moisture. Our skilled tech did some custom work to make it fit in the dash. Then he also built a panel with custom pods to hold the Infinity Perfect600x speakers. There were already speakers in the roof, so we added a Kappa KP5004 amp to power all the speakers. For bass, we built an enclosure under the driver’s seat and added sound damping to limit rattle and produce the best possible sound.
