This 1993 KZJ-78 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SX is boasting only 160k verified miles, just barely broken in for the best turbo diesel Toyota ever built (1KZTE). Finished in a One-Off Black, the exterior is in good shape overall showing only a single minor ding, some scratches and chips from regular daily use. While the paint quality isn't show car status, it is nice. Sitting on OEM suspension and 15" RARE WORK RACING Alloy wheels, this Prado is ready to hit the trails or weekend getaways.
Inside you'll find a tidy cabin with plenty of space. The dashboard does have a couple of small cracks, but is otherwise in good shape. The tall seating positions allow you to see above traffic and easily navigate the highway or the trails. Eight-seating in three-rows is a huge asset. Although to be expected from a 25+-year-old SUV the seating is not in perfect condition showing some minor fading, stains, and bolster wear.
Steering this large-sized rig, the driver will be gripping the custom and signed Nardi Torino steering wheel which is in above average shape. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors work as advertised making daily driving a breeze.
The Cruiser is quite quick for its size. and the turbo spools quickly forcing additional air into the engine and has been enhanced with a brand new XAT custom 3" stainless steel exhaust. The 3.0L turns over effortlessly thanks to the new 12V battery and fresh oil and filter service performed by myself. Equipped with a smooth-shifting automatic transmission and a selective transfer case the driver can interchange between 2WD, 4WD, or even a lower gear setting for less than ideal road conditions.
The factory third-row jump seats due to their nature, you can fold them up for added storage space in a breeze. If you'd rather have the storage space you can easily remove a few quick bolts and nearly double the cargo space. While the carpeting is in pretty decent shape, you also have the original floor mats for an extra layer of coverage. As expected power windows and locks function as they should, and an adjustable steering column and manual climate control to keep everything cool, the 3.0L was the best motor never offered here and infamous for being nearly indestructible. The large four-cylinder fires up quickly for being a diesel and sounds as tough as it looks. Idle is as smooth as a huge four-cylinder can be.
Ride quality with the suspension is outstanding. Solid axles front and rear. Thanks to a fresh battery and oil change the Prado is turn key and ready to start its new adventure. Unique and useful offroaders like the 70 Series Cruisers are tough to find here in Arizona, let along with a drivetrain like this.
