The modern cooling system is developed to maintain the engine temperature constant for normal and safe operation. The cooling system includes the radiator, cooling fan, pressure cap, reserve tank, water pump, thermostat, bypass system, freeze plug, head gasket, intake manifold gasket, heater core, anti freeze, belts, and hoses.
The cooling systems operates by sending coolant through passages in the engine. As the coolant flows through these passages, it cools off the engine. If the engine temperature is too cool, fuel economy will decrease and emissions will increase. If the temperature is not controlled properly and gets too hot, the engine will overheat. If the engine overheats for extended periods of time, the engine will suffer and may cause costly repair.
During the cold season the vehicle will operate at a cooler temperature due to the colder ambient temperature. Winter is starting to warm up, problems with the cooling system may surface. Issues with the cooling system that was masked by the colder temperature may start to exhibit. Here at Auto Guys we will do a free visual inspection of the cooling system in preparation for the warmer weather.

A "Check Engine" light also known as a "Service Engine Soon" light. In 1996 this modern OBDII technology was mandatory on all vehicle operating in North America. These warning lights are technically known as the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). They are typically triggered by the engine computer management system. The light could mean anything from something as simple as a loose gas cap to something as costly like a fault with the engine.
The "Check Engine" light warns the operator that an emission related failure has occurred. The MIL light may illuminate any time the engine is running. When the light is on, there is the risk the car is consuming more fuel, releasing too much pollutant into the environment, or cause catastrophic failure to the vehicle. At times the operator does not notice any other problem with the car when the light is on but should have the vehicle inspected. Here at Auto Guys, we will extract the code from the engine management system, report the proper course of action to our clients, and clear the code if ask to do so. This service is at no cost to you. Follow us for specials, alerts, and promotions.

Regularly changing your engine oil and filter in your car is one of the most important thing you can do to extend the life of your vehicle. Engines have many moving parts and need to be properly lubricated. Oil break down due to contamination which no longer has the proper viscosity for the correct protection. Without proper lubrication, the moving parts will create greater then normal friction. The excessive heat being created will cause sludge and premature failure to the engine.
