Day 3 of Roads to Recovery

Fort Bragg to Leggett (epic), possibly the best roads I've ever been on. An absolute MUST ride/drive.

Leggett to Benbow Inn for a quick pitstop to admire the beautiful German architecture and craftsmanship.

Benbow to Alderpoint to Hwy 36 is defined as a "one and done" road to do once in my lifetime, but never again. Horrific road, gravel and off-road sections throughout on the way through Zenia, then the road falling away all along the way to 36.

Hwy 36 is full of road snakes all throughout and pretty mediocre until Platina to Red Bluff where it has a whoops section of gorgeous undulating curves which I feel I could go back and forth over and over again here.

Side note, I managed over 200mi in a tank on this day (50+mpg), which is somewhat disturbing and points to the "GT-ness" duality of this bike being unmatched due to the triple cylinder design.

Got to the hotel completely wiped out and met up with the Pashnit Motorcycle Tour guys. A warm welcome and solid dinner and margarita combo at Casa Ramos across the street and it was off to bed early. Time to recharge before Yreka tomorrow.

Day 2 of Roads of Recovery

Guerneville to Jenner to Skaggs Springs to Cloverdale to Fort Bragg.

Skaggs towards the coast is pretty brutal on the body, so I decided to shortcut through Hwy 128 instead of Hwy 20 as intended. Making sure to give the body proper R&R so I can enjoy this trip to the fullest.

I'll hit Hwy 20 on the way back home, so no big deal.

All of Hwy 1 was exceptional today and despite the heavy headwind conditions, downright epic. I'm amazed at how good the local traffic drives up here compared to other sections of California, and Oregon Coastal, which is the opposite end of the spectrum.

Made sure to top off fuel and add some tire pressure for the next leg of the journey.

Day 1 of "Roads to Recovery"

142mi of Beauty and Refreshment from Home to Guerneville, on the Russian River, the twisty way.

The roads today are worthy of taking many times over, but there will always be a traffic factor that deducts their value.

The highway section through the town of Occidental is amazing. It's a blend of Hwy 9 and Skyline with zero traffic and tucked into the heart of the mountains.

This has been a LONG time coming.

Brian finally gets to enjoy his REW swapped Rx8 drift car after dealing with a faulty Aderptronic ECU.

She's going to be ROWDY when I'm back from my trip, but for now, a solid 16psi ripper.

Are we doing this right?

Launch Control with this sort of outcome makes me happy.

Allan, Peter, and I working on finding what fueling and timing this bad girl wants before our Dyno Session.

She's responsive and snappy now after this very early on (initial setup) video Peter got of her running.

Found Leading and Trailing Swapped on Front Rotor.

In a stroke of luck, an opening for a Pashnit Motorcycle Tour came to be. A bit of a pricey adventure, but something that I can look back on and be proud of accomplishment.

Bucket List Tier Achievement Unlocked ✅

May 5th-12th, I'll be out of the office and on the road.

I'm taking three days up, a few days with the tour, and two days back to make the most of a week.

This is what I've been talking about for YEARS.
I've followed this page since early college, and eventually did 3000 Miles of Pavement with Mike Daley and Brian Melampy; my attempt to document and hunt down the best driving roads in the Southwest.

It's time to take life by the reigns and live every day to its fullest.
