It seems that we are in perpetual need of good original Stewart-Warner SouthWind Model 8448C and 8448E oil coolers. Swipe to see the second image which shows the dimensions of each part.

If anyone has either of these coolers, or knows of one for sale, please message me. Thank you.

Jim Hall, Ed Leslie, and Dan Gurney. What do these three have in common?

These three racing legends all ended their professional racing career in 1970, and in the same series, the 1970 SCCA Trans-Am Championship.

This is a photo of Al Holbert’s DeKon Monza, chassis 1008, during practice for the 1976 IMSA Daytona Finale. Holbert Racing crew member Neil Laeger is tending to something on or behind where the lower spoiler fastens to these cars.

This photo was taken by Gary Nichols. As Al Holbert had locked up the 1976 IMSA championship at the race before this, Nichols was taking these photos as inspiration for then making a limited silkscreen print to give to some of the folks that helped Holbert Racing over the year.

Believe it or not, this photo was never printed, along with many others shot that day. Thankfully, a few years ago, Gary was kind enough to send me these negatives to scan, and they have been some of the most helpful images for this car’s restoration effort. Thanks again, Gary.

Robert was one of the first ex-Trans-Am racers that I reached out to, in 1997. Robert was ALWAYS the sweetest guy, willing to share any of his wonderful memories and SCCA Trans-Am knowledge. When Robert started coming and hanging out with us at various events with Historic Trans-Am cars in attendance, his stories and kindness were always the highlight of the weekend. Even after Robert slowed down, and said he couldn’t travel to the races any more, we would still catch up through email or phone calls before many of the events he thought we might be running.

Robert passed away January 6, 2025. So many of us will miss being able to talk to and correspond with Robert, but we’ll always cherish his kindness, integrity and friendship.

Both photos in the compilation are from the Robert Barg Collection

Can’t wait to see my best buddy race the Titus-Godsall built, Ron Grable and Rod Coppins driven Firebird at next weekend’s Taupo Historic GP. Though this image slightly pre-dates its current livery, I still love how menacing it looks like this.

When I first bought my old 1969 Camaro race car in the mid-to-late1990s, I became friends with a fellow (Fred Greco) who first found this ex-Gimondo 1969 Camaro:

https://www.sportscarmarket.com/profile/1969-chevrolet-camaro-trans-am-race-car

It would be neat to connect now with the current owner. Additionally, I think I've purchased at least one part in a lot that used to be on this car. If the current owner would like the part, I'd be happy to get it to them.

Does anyone know the current owner of this car, and how I might be in touch with them? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

This Camaro is the car that Vince Gimondo drove to a 2nd in class at the 12 Hours of Sebring, 9th overall at Watkins Glen, and 2nd at the American Road
