San Francisco Guitar Tech

San Francisco Guitar Tech San Francisco Guitar Tech is where stringed instruments and their owners go to better themselves. I give half hour lessons and do repair.

Lessons, repair, references and knowledge are all available for whatever you need, and if I don't know about it, I'll help you find out. At home, on the phone, internet, you name it, SFGT is here to help. My name is Jeremy Borkat and I decided to start SFGT out of my garage in 2013 after years of being involved in music and 5 years building musical instruments professionally. I've been playing gu

itar for 15 years, and I've also been keen on making sure everyone who doesn't have a musical instrument can get one, and everyone who has one is happy to own it. I'll teach you how to play that guitar, and how to keep it ready to play.

SFGuitarTech has moved to a new location in San Francisco on Portola Drive just below Twin Peaks.

Still a garage, same service, and same Jeremy.

BIG NEWS! San Francisco Guitar Tech now accepts card payments!

Alright, it may not be big news. Maybe reasonably sized news? Appropriate sized news? News the size of a card reader? Who do I speak to to get my news sized?

I am fully vaccinated, and ready for appointments.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Due to the pandemic and San Francisco and the Bay Area moving into the red tier, I will be closed until further notice.

I am fully open again for your repair needs. Contact me and we can set up an appointment and get your guitars playing again.

Due to the current shelter in place order, I will be holding off repairs until the order is over. Thanks for your business, everyone.

My first Pianica repair. It's an electric melodica. Anyone who has more information about them, please share.

Thanks to a recent customer, I was informed that my website had been hacked. Anyone clicking the link from Google for appointments or getting to my website were forwarded to an online pharmacy. I have now switched hosting, and am looking forward to a future when people no longer need to get their Vi**ra via a website for someone who works on guitars in his garage.

Gotta thank all my regulars and new people for coming by the garage. 6 Years ago, I didn't think this would turn into what it is. Thanks for the positive Yelp reviews.

Thank you everyone.

It's been awhile, but I'm still around! Still taking phone calls and working on guitars in the garage. It had been awhile since I made a bone nut from scratch, but there are few more rewarding jobs than bringing a guitar back to life with a piece of bone. I spend my non-guitar time taking pictures, but I always forget to combine the two. This weekend, I finally remembered to get a picture of my latest repair, a miniature sculpture made of cow leg to get a Martin Dreadnaught back in ship-shape. (Nautical humor!)

This original 60's Gibson Melody Maker offered a perfect photo opportunity while I was waiting for my soldering iron to warm up. Just some electronics issues and more stripped threads than cheap denim.
