The 2006 R1 is off to a new home with a VERY happy owner! Glad the right person found it!

Exactly what giving new life to a motorcycle is all about.

Good luck and ride safe!

Gave my smallest scoot some long overdue attention this week.

My little Yamaha TTR-110 spent years as my trash can hauler in San Diego; has an automatic transmission so I used it to pull trash cans up and down my old 20 percent grade, 500 foot driveway. Pretty much parked it when I moved here two years ago.

Rebuilt the carburetor with a genuine Mikuni kit, Twin Air filter, rebuilt the petcock, new Dunlop MX-34 tires, rebuilt forks and new shock, new chain and sprockets, new plastic, and an oil change. Set of graphics and a new bar pad on the way!

The 2002 YZ125 is coming along nicely. More engine work than I planned, but glad I had a look. The crank was shot, as well.

Little before and after on that Pro Circuit Products, Inc. Shorty, repacked and ready to roll.

Should have the crank done by the weekend and assembly next week. 🤘

One of those days that a used bike bites you in the backside.

The 2002 YZ125 had excessive oil around the pipe and silencer joints. Decided to replace the crank oil seal on the clutch side of the engine as a preventive measure. When I pulled the clutch cover, small shards of clutch fiber disc were inside the cover. Bit of disassembly revealed the cause.

Was also told the bike had a 137cc kit. Piston was bone stock.

On the plus side, it has a Hinson clutch basket!

Time to order parts......

One of those nearly impossible to believe days.

During the 2014 MotoGP race at Circuit of the Americas, I rode the Harris R71 through the paddock to a remote spot, so that MotoGP photographer Andrew Northcott could take photos of it for Performance Bikes magazine.

Definitely miss that bike sometimes.

RM Stator flywheel installed. Very good preventative maintenance for the 2004-2006 (5VY) YZF-R1.

Yamaha glued the generator magnets to the OEM flywheel, occasionally resulting in failure of the glue and catastrophic damage to the motor. Last picture is from the web, shows what can happen with the stock flywheel.

RMSTATOR flywheels for the 5VY have shielding over the magnets, eliminating that possibility.

Bodywork on, shakedown ride tomorrow!

Another resurrection nearly complete. Fired up the 2006 R1 for the first time last night, sounds like a new bike. It should....only has 4300 miles!

Few more things to do including installation of an RMSTATOR flywheel and calibration of the Speedo DRD module, then fairings. Should be on the market next week!

Next up, a 2002 YZ125. Not just another build, this one will be special.

A close family friend down in Texas was told if he got A's and B's this last semester, he gets a bigger bike. Found his bike here in the Springs.

Needs a bit of work to be a solid rider....but it's going to get the MB Cycles treatment!

Watch this space....
