The must anticipated next episode in the 5.4 2V N/A engine build series is live on YouTube. In this episode, we go from our prepped shortblock to long block. This Trick Flow Headed 5.4 is going in our AWD Model A project vehicle! Special thanks to and for the support and getting parts out during these shortages! There’s also a sneak peak at the end of a new piece of really cool machinery we are getting!

Hello Everybody! I am so thankful for all the support on the 5.4 2V tear down video! I am happy to announce that today the build video going from shortblock to full engine with all the and will be uploaded. I know many of you have waited a while for this video and I appreciate your patience, trust me it’s worth it. This engine is purdy and I can’t wait to hear it chop at idle and scream at 6500RPM on the dyno!

And just like that, our BUILT 5.4 2V is in the frame rails of our AWD Model A and bolted up to the freshened up 4R100 transmission. These SOHC Mod motors are about the size of a 426 Hemi! Most of the hardware holding the engine and driveline together is so I know nothing will ever loosen on me. The valve covers and intake manifold look sick and the headers don’t look bad either. Now I just need to wire it up with our harness and *fingers crossed* 🤞🏻 we can fire it up🔥🔥🔥

Special thanks to aka MMR for getting these pieces out to us ASAP for the 5.4 2V engine build. We needed the cam spacers required to run bolt on cam gears which one uses when they run aftermarket 2V cams, and MMR manufactures these 6061 Aluminum red anodized spacers which reduce rotational mass and look awesome while doing it with their hard anodized red finish. We were also in need of new rockers and MMR stocks the Ford GT supercar version which are stiffer, leading to less deflection and more HP. Building the b a d d e s t naturally aspirated 5.4 2V mod motor is no easy task! That’s why we teamed up with to utilize their extensive range of 2 valve Ford Modular V8 performance parts to power our AWD Model A. Those parts include their Twisted Wedge 195CC Cylinder Heads, Track Max Camshafts, and Track Heat Manifold! The latest episode is live now on YouTube where we tear down our 240K mile engine, give an extensive history of Ford’s modular engine family, and take a look at our new Trick Flow engine components. LINK IN BIO. Now the motor is off to to be machined and have the short block built!

Newest bad-ass tool for the shop, the Mandrel Bender 2.0 with the thru-mandrel lubrication. This attachment works with any M600/HD/XHD bender and allows you to bend more exotic materials, on tighter radii, with lower wall thicknesses! All this adds up to a machine that is essential for header/manifold fabrication, serious chassis building, as well as working with exotic materials such as titanium and nickel based superalloys. We will be putting this beast to the test in the near feature on some titanium for new project vehicles. Also check out the new purty anodized die spacers that allow for easier die changes!

I had to start doing some stainless fabrication on the AWD Model A so I picked up an 1/8” 304 cube kit to get some TIG practice. After I finished welding I decided to do a quick polish. I’m really happy with the results!

I appreciate the forethought of the Ford engineers of the late 90’s to put an 11 gauge steel cover over the front driveshaft, so 20 years down the line, when you have some knucklehead come along and throw double the amount of power through the driveshaft, he doesn’t get neutered by a 1310 U-Joint.

The 4R100 Transmission and Borg Warner AWD Center Differential are now at home in the AWD Model A. The awesome part about this Center differential is that it is not a fixed front to rear bias like a Torsen or Viscous Coupling unit. The Borg Warner differential uses an electromagnetic clutch that can be pulsed so you get anywhere from 100% Rear to 50/50, and every bias in between. Rear wheel drive one second, then AWD with the turn of a k**b.

Swipe for the before and after... this weekend started as a pile of parts and (hopefully) will end with a rolling chassis for the AWD Model A. Last night installed the gas tank, axle-back exhaust, rear end, rear pushrod suspension with the awesome coil overs. Got to start to use some on the suspension as well. Would have finished the front suspension but I cracked the front diff installing bushings. I’ll weld it up and keep moving along!

Just received the AWD Model A frame back from . We chose “Iron Glimmer” powder on the frame. It’s a beautiful metallic grey that will fit the build well. Now time to focus on rebuilding the chassis!
