HomeGrown Weather: Guess Who's Back Edition

Mother nature took the week off and decided to bring the gifts(chaos) for the weekend

Saturday is giving us a Level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk, which is Mother Nature’s way of saying:

“I might throw a few lawn chairs, but I haven’t committed to full chaos yet.”

The main window to watch looks to be:

Saturday: 4 PM through Midnight

Primary Threat:
Damaging winds

Secondary Threat:
Isolated large hail

No need to panic. No need to duct tape yourself to the porch.

But it is a good idea to:

Stay weather-aware Saturday afternoon and evening
Have multiple ways to get warnings
Keep phones charged
Secure the lightweight yard decorations before they become county-to-county travelers
Check back for updates as we get closer

As always, I’ll be watching it through the day like the unpaid storm gremlin I apparently signed up to be.

🌞 HOMEGROWN WEATHER: MOTHER NATURE BROUGHT THE SNACKS EDITION

I don’t know who put this order in with Mother Nature, but apparently she looked at the menu and said:

“Yeah, go ahead and serve the nice stuff.”

And folks… she served the snacks.

We’re talking sunshine.
We’re talking mid 70s.
We’re talking “open the windows and pretend you have your life together” weather.

From now until forever…

Or next Wednesday.

Whichever comes first.

Either way, there’s not a whole lot to yell about in the weather department, which means you probably won’t see much from me for a few days.

And honestly?

There are worse things.

No Snow Wall.
No Sky Noodle drama.
No “secure your patio furniture because Ohio is trying to relocate it” advisory.

Just sunshine, comfy temps, and suspiciously peaceful skies.

Enjoy it.
Touch grass.
Open a window.
Let the laundry sit in the dryer like nature intended.

HomeGrown Weather: Enough is Enough Edition

Alright. I’m officially kinda over this “one nice day followed by 48 hours inside the Gray Rainzone” arrangement Mother Nature keeps handing us like it’s some kind of subscription service nobody asked for.

Yesterday? Beautiful. Hopeful. Vitamin D. Birds chirpin’. Windows down.
Today? Back to the regularly scheduled Ohio emotional damage package.

We’re looking at mid 70’s today with periods of rain, gloomy skies, and maybe a little thunder here and there just for dramatic effect. Nothing severe expected. No sky noodles. No flying trampolines. Just regular old wet sadness with occasional boom noises.

Honestly this weather pattern feels like Mother Nature opens the blinds for one day, says “psych,” then throws a wet blanket back over the entire state.

On the bright side, at least temperatures stay comfortable and we’re not dealing with 94 degrees and swamp humidity yet. Small victories, friends. Small victories.

Mother Nature appears to be entering her emotional support era.

Today? Chance of rain.
Tomorrow? Chance of rain.
Tomorrow night? ALSO rain.

Then Monday and Tuesday roll in acting all confident and stable like “we’re different” with mostly dry weather and highs creeping into the upper 70s and maybe even touching 80 degrees if the atmosphere keeps its life together long enough.

BUT WAIT.

Tuesday night and Wednesday?
Back to rain chances again because apparently the sky has commitment issues.

Overall, we’re entering that late-spring stretch where the air gets thick, the grass grows approximately 14 feet overnight, and every weather app starts throwing little rain cloud emojis around like confetti.

High temps through the stretch stay mainly in the upper 70s with a few “maybe 80 if we believe in ourselves” moments mixed in.

No major sky noodle situations expected at this time. Just your standard Ohio weather mood swings sponsored by humidity and unresolved atmospheric feelings. 🌦️

🌩️🚨 HOMEGROWN WEATHER ANGRY SKY UPDATE 🚨🌩️

The atmosphere has once again chosen violence.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 7:00 PM for northern Preble and southwestern Darke Counties.

As of 6:28 PM, this spicy sky goblin was hanging around New Madison and moving northeast at about 35 mph.

Expected nonsense includes:
🌬️ Wind gusts up to 60 mph
🧊 Penny-sized hail from the heavens
🌳 Tree limbs considering early retirement
🪑 Patio furniture entering low earth orbit

This is not currently a sky noodle situation, but it IS a “maybe don’t stand outside holding a metal rake” situation.

If you’re in the warned area, move yourself, your snacks, and your emotional support lawn chair indoors until the ruckus passes.

🌩️ HOMEGROWN WEATHER SKY RUCKUS UPDATE 🌩️

We’ve got ourselves a spicy little thunder boomer about 7 miles east of Berne, scootin’ east at around 20 mph. Mother Nature has apparently chosen mild violence this evening with wind gusts up to 50 mph and hail roughly the size of expired gas station gumdrops.

Potential nonsense includes:
🌬️ Tree limbs doing gymnastics
🪑 Patio furniture attempting freedom
🌱 Minor vegetation abuse from sky pebbles

⚠️⛈️ STRONG THORMS ROLLING ACROSS THE REGION ⛈️⚠️

The atmosphere continues its nightly audition for “Most Dramatic Midwest Summer Evening.”

Strong thunderstorms are moving across portions of Shelby, Auglaize, Mercer, Darke, Logan, and Miami Counties through approximately 5:45 PM.

As of 5:13 PM, storms were lined up from near Wapakoneta down toward Bradford and moving east around 30 MPH.

🌩️ WHAT THESE STORMS ARE BRINGING:
• Wind gusts up to 50 MPH
• Pea size hail
• Frequent lightning
• Heavy rain capable of turning roads into temporary splash zones
• Random patio furniture relocation services

📍 IMPACTED COMMUNITIES INCLUDE:
Sidney, Piqua, Greenville, St. Marys, New Bremen, Minster, Versailles, Newport, Bradford, Anna, Fort Loramie, Jackson Center, Botkins, Lakeview, New Knoxville, Quincy, Russia and surrounding areas.

🚗 TRAVEL NOTE:
This storm line is moving across I-75 between mile markers 83 and 105. Expect reduced visibility, standing water, and people still somehow driving 85 MPH with no headlights on.

At this time we are NOT seeing organized sky noodle behavior, but lightning, gusty winds, and torrential rain can still cause problems quickly.
