Thorpe Racing Father and Son Racing team is a family race team. John "GHOSTRIDER" Thorpe and his father John "KING

The Father and Son Racing team is built of John "GHOSTRIDER" Thorpe's family and friends. The main crew consists of the driver John "Ghostrider", his father, John "King Thorpe", Wife: Bianca, Mother: Ethel, Son: Lance, and daughter: Zoey. The extended part of the crew is his sister Tami, his brother Brian, the chassis man Bud Donahue, the motor builder Scott Haas, the tire guys Bobby Giles, and ot

her friends that are willing to help out from time to time. John decided to start racing with his father when his sister Tami paid for him to jump in a ride along car at a benefit at Putnam Speedway. He was hooked as soon as the car flew around the track and he went right out and bought a car for him and his father to build with the help of Bud Donahue on how to make it work. It was Rocky at first before they had Bud's help but it wasn't long before they were getting the hang of it and moving forward. John and his Father started out at Putnam Speedway and then moved on to race at Ocala Speedway and Volusia Speedway. They enjoy running different tracks to keep it interesting and hanging out with their other race friends and teams. The 2014 season will be spent split up between Volusia speedway and Bubba Speedway Park. They hope to see you at the track to show support to the drivers and the tracks. The team currently runs the 114 thunderstock and would like to move up to other classes in the near future and John's son Lance will be running the current 114 in about a year and a half when he is 12. The car number represents Lance's birth date " November 4" The future plan is to either build a street stock or E Mod for the 2015 season depending on what the 2014 season brings. The team needs sponsors and all the support they can get in order to move on to bigger and better things.....
The team has finished well over the years in points even-though, they never really committed to points racing due to time and money. "It is hard to points race with family and other obligations", says John. They finished 2nd at PCS in 2010, 2nd at PCS in 2011 and 4th at BRP in 2011, and 5th in 2013 for PCS's short season. The team is pretty consistently in the top 5 and has a list of top 3's and has about 5 victories in the past 4 1/2 years. They plan to pull more victories this year with new equipment and more effort into the car with help from some new sources.

We had a great time this weekend racing turkey trot. This was the 1st big race that Lance Thorpe and I ran together. He did and amazing job running the car this weekend and made us so proud. He was not so good Friday night and we all gave advice and he figured it out and did so much better Saturday in the feature. This was his 1st finish in the Positive Impact Motorsports car and he is super excited about it. Him and I started in the back and I finished 6th and he finished 11th thanks to some changes David Showers Jr. David Showers Chassis had us make and some advice to lance. Thank you for all you and chief do to help us get faster, we really appreciate you guys. We had our ups and downs for the weekend but all in all we had a blast racing and spending time with family. Great job Lance, won't be long before we get to race side by side. Thanks to the crew for all the hard work all weekend as well. Bobby Giles, Jeffrey Baer, Lance, Scott Haas, and everyone that helps when they can. Thanks to my Dad for always being there with us even though he couldn't make it this weekend due to health. We missed you out there dad and wish you could've seen him drive this weekend. Big thanks to Bianca Goodson Thorpe for putting up with thenlong nights and empty wallets.... lol
I will post some videos later

Come join us at All-Tech Raceway this Saturday for some good racing. Gonna take the 114 out after a few months off and a lot of repairs and changes. We took her to the doctors... aka Showers Chassis for David Jr and big chief to get her dialed in. Hopefully we can get her running up front.

We are getting the 114 ready for the brawl race and could really use some sponsor help... we have had bad luck the past couple weeks with drivetrain problems that have been costly. We are looking for help with fuel, entry fees, tires, or anything at all. Tia
