Once upon a time, during one of my cage building classes, the students hid magnetic Sharpies all over my shop, I've be slowly discovering them for more than a year. Somehow, this one showed up over 3000 miles away, never been used, still has the duct tape and magnet. Weird.

Do to popular demand I'm doing another cage building class.. I am time constrained due to many things. This is basically 3 weeks notice. Sorry.

Details:

Location: Davis CA

Dates: Friday Feb 7th through Sunday Feb 9th

Cost: $900 per person, limit of 10 students.

What to expect: We will build two complete cages from start to finish. You will learn all my techniques and how to apply them to your tools.

Friday starts as early as you can get here and is optional, mostly a session for me to learn your abilities and some welding training on the bench. Saturday and Sunday are 10 to 12 hour days starting at 8am.

I can help connect you with other attendees to save $ on rooms, Air B&B etc.

Lunch and beverages included.

We generally go out to dinner Friday and Saturday nights and discuss our poor choices in life...

Ask any of people who've attended. This is the real deal.

1969 CJ5 Roll Cage.

We are dealing with a disagreement between two employees.

2019 John and 2024 John have different ideas on how to build this cage.

I'm going with 2019 John in this particular instance, his documentation was good. He simply got it right, the changes made by 2024 John sucked, lesson learned.

Some time ago, during my last cage building class, Fred Schechter hid sharpies taped to to maganets all over the shop. I think I found the last one up on the rafter.

I've been getting inquiries into these Bay Window Bus rear bumpers.

I have a list of 8 interested bus owners. So, I'm going to do a production run.

There are many options and can be made to fit both early and late Bay Window Busses.

I'll post on The Samba as well.

If you know anyone with a bus, let them know.

We've moved into gardening implements. Introducing the Evil Genius w**d fork, forged tines and a high strength steel tube handle. With a custom head angle to pry out those stubborn w**ds. Unbreakable. Sorta heavy, but, hey, you can skip some weight training courses with weekly use.

Compare it to the wimpy one next to it...

Go big, or go back inside.

So, I was a Triumph guy. This Morgan came up for sale in Sonoma County. It's a 4/4, not a +4. Did I know the difference? Nope. I was going to buy a Triumph powered Morgan. Got a Kent Ford powered one instead. Way better. I owned Fiestas at the time. Totally understood them. Drove it down to the Monterey Historics. Sold it, had to get a ride back. Wish I still owned it. Was 22 years old at the time. Yeah, 80s haircut and glasses. Don't judge me.

It's electric baby.

Well, no.

For the first time in many years I had to use my oxy-fuel setup. I have been all electric welding for at least 5 years.

My truck started leaking Diesel fuel at a prodigious rate from a failed joint in a hard line.

Part is NLA. Ford says: Um, maybe, let's see if we can find one. I removed it(you don't want to know) let's say I'm bleeding and some serious work had to be done.

So, after an hour or more of cleaning and safety checking my oxy-fuel setup I re-brazed the hard line. Installing it in the morning. Hope it works.
