Hear me out.
Sometimes, as a detailer, you’re not always going to have that satisfaction. Some vehicles are an improvement. And only that. Detailing is about taking a project and improving it to something the client is happy with.
This 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe came to us to receive our Spring Clean Detail. It was an elderly veterans vehicle.
The notes for concern on this were “stains on carpet”. When we got into the interior, it was discovered there were mouse droppings and urine in areas around the interior. I had already completed most of the exterior when the interior was started so I made a call and decided to relay the information to the owner, charge appropriately for the additional issue, and get the job done. The client was unaware of this specific issue, that’s why we were not made aware.
In all honesty, if we get contacted and told a vehicle has mold, rodent activity, etc, we turn down the job and I refer to a reputable mobile detailer I know.
It was a long, frustrating, and for the most part, not enjoyable day if I’m being honest. We did it anyway.
Our goal is to always take what we’re given and make it better. Not perfect. Better.
The client was very grateful and happy, and that’s what it’s about.
With that said, if you knowingly have a rodent issue or mold, or other bio related issues, I have a good referral but I will turn the job down.
