Join us for the horsemen’s BBQ this Saturday August 29th after the races, located in the Sweetwater Events Complex main building —please feel free to bring your family as well.

Raging Bull Barbecue (pictured) will be catering featuring brisket, pulled pork, smoked street corn, smoked baked beans & smoked peach cobbler w/ vanilla ice cream for dessert. A full cash bar will be available and open till around 9:30pm, depending on demand. 🍻🍹

Congratulations to the fastest maturity trial qualifier Hard to Politic (sorrel #4) who stopped the clock in 19.48s. Bred by Louis A Malechek III, the 4 year old gelding is owned/trained by Samuel Mendoza & was ridden to victory by jockey Juan Pulido. 🏇🥇

Pulido completed a daily double later on with Miss Pollys Train (gray #5) in the $25k Seedskadee Stakes for trainer Josh Taylor & owner Bill Doenz.

On Sunday at Sweetwater Downs, Bill Doenz’s homebred Miss Pollys Train scored a game victory in the $25,000 Seedskadee Overnight Stakes (R) for Wyoming-breds. With Juan Pulido in the irons for conditioner Josh Taylor, the 3-year-old filly by Freighttrain B posted an 84 speed index for her 350-yard dash in :17.825.

This victory improved Miss Polly Train’s record to 12-5-2-2 with earnings of $67,261. This was her first stakes win after three prior attempts, including a third-place effort in the $183,350 WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity (R) at Sweetwater Downs. She is out of the Arkansas-bred Apollitical Jess mare Political Bedlam, who also raced for Doenz and ended her racing career in 2021 with two straight wins at Sweetwater Downs.

Bigg Judy, a daughter of Junior June Bug running for owner and trainer Paul Greene, ran second in her first start against stakes company. Third went to CD Rockin Da Kas, a CD Rockin Da Wagon mare running for trainer Joe Davis.

Two trials were needed on Sunday to determine the field for the $50,000-added Sweetwater Downs Maturity, and the fastest qualifier came out of the first heat as Oklahoma-bred Hard To Politic rolled to a one-length win as the 1-2 favorite. Ridden by Juan Pulido for owner and trainer Samuel Mendoza, the 4-year-old gelding by Apollitical Jess clocked 400 yards in :19.481 for a 103 speed index.

This marked the third straight win for Hard To Politic, and it possibly made him the first American Quarter Horse to win consecutive races in Oklahoma, Nebraska and Wyoming. His winning streak started in the $75,000 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes (RG2) at Re*****on Park and continued at the new Lake Mac Racetrack against allowance foes. Bred by Louis Malechek III, Hard To Politic is a winner of seven of 12 career starts with earnings of $189,497.

Luis Gonzalez’s Mysterious Cartel, a gelding by Five Bar Cartel, chased Hard To Politic throughout and earned the second-fastest qualifying time of :19.650. The Texas-bred, who is trained by Adrian Zavala, has hit the board in 20 of 22 career starts with earnings just short of $270,000.

The complete list of qualifiers for the September 6 final is as follows: Hard To Politic (:19.481), Mysterious Cartel (:19.650), DNC Dynasty (:19.825), Game For Tarzan (:19.845), DM Nite Hawk (:19.888), Love Kiss J Lee (:20.063), Duckys Dynasty (:20.165), ER Mountain X (:20.260), Uncle Willard (:20.260) and Cash 23 (:20.318).

Saturday’s action packed eleven race card saw Flying Rocco (pictured) come out on top with the fastest trial time stopping the clock in 19.86 seconds. Race 2’s trial winner Terry Mesu came close with a time of 19.88 seconds to secure the second fastest trial of the afternoon.

J. P. Sample’s fastest qualifier Flying Rocco, was ridden to victory by Cesar Tadeo Moreno & trained by Uriel Dominguez. The 3 yr old sorrel gelding pushed his career earnings to $122,084 and improved his lifetime record to 13: 7-1-1. His next target will be the $75k+ Sweetwater Downs Quarter Horse Derby on Saturday September 5th, don’t miss it!

🚨Your Attention Horsemen:

Effective immediately, in the interest of safety for both our horses and horsemen, there will be no parking or vehicles allowed in the barn area. Vehicles will be permitted to access the area for the loading/unloading of horses and vendor deliveries. Parking will also be restricted along the south fence line between the dumpsters. Everyone should park in the south lot behind the single row of horse walkers. 🚗

Signage has been posted in all areas. We appreciate you racing with us and thank you for your cooperation in keeping everyone safe.

It was amazing to see our fans back at the races to kickoff the 2026 season! Thank you for your continued support & and we can’t wait to see you back at the track until closing day September 27th!

Sharp Warning (pink) went wire to wire in the $40k Horse Palace Stakes on Saturday to highlight the thoroughbred action! Scott Bethke was up for trainer/owner Kayla Warren.

One Sweet Duck 🦆 took the Sunday feature $30k Isawssugarbear Stakes with Juan Carlos Rivas up for trainer Stan Young and owner Lex Fabrizio.
