We couldn't make it to the summit of Mt Washington due to 82mph winds but wanted to take some time to thank some supporters and friends of the findriaser! Again if you have the chance and have enjoyed following along check out www.weareyoung.ca and leave a donation or even read up on what they do, heck even try and go out this weekend and do something nice for an elderly person you come across or know, it's really what they are all about! 🙂

Day 12
Dover NH -> Maine
We left my grandparents house to head out in some surprising rain (only third time we have see it all trip!)

I love driving through New Hampshire. It smells like sawdust and pine needles and has little shops and towns that give the area a small towns feel. We visited some covered bridges and toured the White Mountain National Forrest an area with groomed roads and the feeling you are somehow camping when you're driving down the road.

Sad the trip is approaching and end soon. It has been tiring but in a great way to fit in all these rides and memories!

Day 10-11
Allentown PA -> Norton MA -> Dover NH
Sorry for the delay in updating! Dad and I drove from Allentown in some pretty stifling heat, mainly Hartford to arrive in to my aunt Shelley and Uncle Dave's house. My mom and sister and nephew were there (missed seeing you Justin but soon!) Having a relaxing night watching the sox game outside.
The following day we had a huge family get together and celebrated the forth of July. It was amazing seeing so much family, many of whom I haven't seen nor met before (lots of second cousins) it was a really special day and I didn't want it to end. Big thanks to Shelley and Dave for hosting and to Zak for helping me find what seemed to be the only barber open to get a cut.
The following day we headed to Dover NH to see my grandparents. We went out to warrens for some outstanding seafood!
Up next upstate NH and Maine!

Note, I didn't take any photos as I just tucked the phone away to enjoy time with family. I did make a collage of my dad doing random stuff though. He has been awesome I am not easy to travel with and stop a lot and try to run on an impossible schedule but I have a lot to learn from him still in patience and toughness.

Day 9
Roanoke VA -> Allentown PA
We headed back out from Roanoke to take on the last section of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had intended to Washington to see a baseball game but opted for the open road and less city driving especially over the 4th of July holidays coming. Dad really enjoyed this road, as did I, we even saw some of the Appalachian trail! We hit some loose gravel sections but finished the road in Afton before going to Allentown to rest up! Lot of kms put on the bikes and another very hot day!

Day 8
Deals Gap NC -> Roanoke VA
We sadly headed out from the Tail of the Dragon and headed along the back roads towards the Blue Ridge Parkway
We took a stop at the Wheels Through Time museum, a 38000 sq ft building housing some the of most amazing and rarest early 1900s American made motorcycles. Dad also found Santa's Land, a amusement park featuring everything Santa with a mechanical singing Christmas tree, Christmas Holly parking lines, staff wearing elf suits. It was 34° out and the whole experience was very odd.

We drove longer through the Parkway and realized we sadly had to jump back into interstate 81 to land into Roanoke around 11pm. Ordered way too much pizza and planned one more day on the Parkway to ride along the mountain ridge.

Onto PA tomorrow, this heat wave has made the ride challenging but memorable!

Day 7
241 km
Tail of the Dragon

We did it! We headed out to ride the Cherohala Skyway we headed over 411 where we had some roadside peaches. We headed through beautiful mountains and winding roads with a probable 4:1 car to motorcycle ratio.

We hit the tail of the dragon once again and saw just how awesome the road is. Lots of people were on it today and you spend more time focusing on your counter steering than waving. When we landed in rain and lightning came out of nowhere! Had some beers with our neighbors from Charleston, dinner at Tapoco Lodge and relaxed for the night.

Day 6
699 km
Staunton VA -> Deals Gap NC

We made it! It was a long long drive today. We dipped into the Blue Ridge Parkway which is one of the best roads I have ever ridden. We are reworking our return trip to take in more of it, perfect pavement, awesome scenery within the mountain ridges and deers that behave when you drive by them.

Mr. Wray from Rocky K**b visitor centre said it couldn't be done, but, we got to the Gap, around 11pm and unknowingly rode Tail of the Dragon in! It was a full moon, road was completely empty, drenched in sweat but loving all 11 miles and sharing it with my dad was a memorable feeling. We will be taking it easy today and riding around locally.

Day 4
Brooklyn Tourists
0 km (but many by foot)

Dad and I left our pod hotel and walked down to Dumbo and the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge area to take in the sights. After that some genuine NY bagels.

Some more walking and took in some awesome artwork before heading back to have gourmet hipster hot dogs and plan our trip out of New York tomorrow in the thunderstorm.

Brooklyn has a lot to offer, unique historic and nonconformic, not to mention the best late night pizza slices.
