March 27, 1952 — The Birth of Sun Records
On this day in 1952, Sun Records of Memphis, Tennessee began releasing records — quietly opening the door to what would soon become the sound of a musical revolution.
Founded by Sam Phillips, the tiny studio at 706 Union Avenue would soon become the starting point for legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison.
Before rockabilly had a name…
before rock ’n’ roll conquered the world…
there was Sun Records ☀️
A small studio.
A bold vision.
A historic sound that changed music forever.
