Struggling to get your carbureted classic started after a quick stop? You aren't alone! Modern gasoline is vastly different from the fuel our engines were built for, leading to issues like fuel evaporation and heat soak.

In this video, we break down why today's ethanol-blended, volatile fuels cause hard starting in older vehicles and share a simple, no-cost technique to get your engine firing every time—without flooding it.

We recently had fun refreshing a crazy-fresh 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT. Although not your typical hot rod or muscle car, we were honored to ready this 10,601 mile original car for the road. The owner is super enthusiastic about the car, no doubt reconnecting with fond memories, and this is the 4th Pontiac we’ve done for him. We did some pretty serious work on the car, including dropping the whole rear cradle, engine, and transaxle to reseal the engine and freshen the suspension and brakes. Even barely driven, time took it's toll with leaky seals and gaskets everywhere. We had the original wheels restored with new tires, put a fresh detail on the paint and interior, and now the GT is ready to rock once again. Remember that GM stereo? It's crazy how original this car is. If a car matters to you, it matters to us!

We dive into the engine bay of a beautiful 1935 Ford coupe! While this classic is mostly original, it recently suffered a mechanical setback when the fiber timing gear finally gave out after 80 years of service.

We walk you through why engineers in the 1930s chose "cardboard" fiber gears for silence, the challenges of working on this archaic engine design, and the extensive process required to get it back on the road. From pulling the engine and performing a full valve job to surfacing the heads and resealing the block, we leave no stone unturned to ensure this Flathead V8 is ready for another 80 years of cruising.

If you appreciate automotive history and the art of keeping these iconic machines running, this one is for you!

Lots of horsepower brewing at the V8 Speed & Resto Shop Engine Shop! These are just some of our latest engine builds, including a Chevy 396, Pontiac 400, Oldsmobile 350, and even a 1962 Cadillac 390. All of these are numbers-matching engines to their cars, so authenticity matters.

After precision machining, assembly, and test run-in, they all enjoyed a visit to our in-house paint shop for the right look. Some appear stock, but they all feature improved tech on the inside like roller cams and rockers, modern piston designs, aluminum heads, and high quality fasteners.

We're happy to breathe new life into your tired original, or design and build a modern, high-power bullet for your muscle car. What do you need? Link to our shop in the comments.
