We are happy to introduce our new Carbon fiber dash panel for the E46! This panel is a tribute to the PTG version and is incredibly lightweight as just one pound. It is designed to be incredibly strong and can hold all of your switches, gauges, relays and more! There is some simple modifications required to the dash to make room for it but it fits perfectly and is a great way to finish off any BMW E46 race car!

We snuck the concrete work in just days ahead of one of the winter storms and kept the heaters running a couple of days for good luck. Once a month had gone by it was nice to get the trailer under the awning into its new home and then we bought the biggest piece of foam one can buy! Spray-foam insulation is not the cheapest route but it immediately took the edge off of the winter days. With the sun beating down on the roof it was a consistent ten degrees warmer inside on those colder days which immediately made it worth it. Eventually we will be putting in some HVAC mini-split units but not being completely frozen is a start!

It was just a few more days and they had completely re—sided the old barn, built the awning and expansion, installed doors and windows and had the new siding up. If I can convince the Amish to help me build carbon fiber components we will be heading to F1 in no time. A few weeks later the concrete went in for the awning, the expansion and a ramp to help get race cars in and out without scraping- all of which was approved by our inspector!

It was amazing to watch the barn builders knock out this construction in just a few days time. They had a crew of 4-5 guys and they were crawling all over the framing and got the awning completed and framed out the expansion. Barnbuilders LLC from Gordonville, Pa did the work and they were great to deal with from design through completion of the project.

After a few design tweaks we found our layout which included a 32x15’ awning for our enclosed trailer and a 30x45’ expansion that would allow for a proper sized clean room and dirty room to help make our Carbon fiber components. There will be a second floor to allow for plenty of room for storage, an assembly area and more. We are going to be going from 1000 square feet to just about 3700 square feet plus another 900 square feet of concrete out of the back for a phase 2 awning down the road. The barn builders wasted no time getting the old sheet metal off and getting ready to begin the expansion. I was very happy to see the sad-looking siding disappear and make room for the new green coverage👌🏽

Now that the 2002 is mostly finished with just a few details to tidy up, we have moved onto another big project. Last year we moved back to Pipersville and on the property was a 30x32’ pole barn. This is the 5th shop we have had in our 15 years and it is actually right across the street from our very first one. It was obvious right away that 1000 square feet was not going to cut it so we made some plans for expansion. Before moving in, I rented a floor grinder to prep the floors which was once again an awesome experience producing 10 trillion small pieces of dust- highly recommended! Once the floor was stripped, power washed and inspected by the Goose we applied some epoxy paint to the floors and started moving all of the tools and equipment in. Six trailer loads later, including a few sketchy extractions from our basement workshop and we had the new shop stuffed. We are still churning away on the shop expansion but check out the early stages in the photos below.

After we achieved complete and total glory using the 2002 in our wedding and at the car show it was clear we had a small problem. Due to the horrible condition of Pennsylvania roads I found more paint chips than miles we put on it. I took it back to the paint shop and had a few things touched up or repainted. I took the car to to solve the problem. Andrey has an incredible attention to detail and polished the entire car, getting out a lot of the scratches in the paint that I was too gentle on. Baze then applied PPF to the entire car I was amazed by the results! Any small sanding scratches were now invisible and the car looks better than I could ever hope. Andrey finished things off with applying a ceramic coating to the entire car and wheels and now we are ready to actually enjoy the car this year! Anyone who is in the Warminster area and looking for detailing, polishing, PPF or ceramic coating reach out to Andrey and his team they do phenomenal work!

Like any good automotive project we had two things. A deadline in the form of my wedding, and a tight timeline at the finish. Despite my best efforts of working on this project every spare minute I had for the preceding year, it naturally came down to having all hands on deck for the final weeks and we finished it with roughly 15 minutes to spare! Fortunately, I was well-equipped with friends local and from out of town who helped get things to the finish line. The amount of work we completed in the final week was insane. Assembling the body panels, putting together the interior, tuning the carburetors and ignition, bleeding the brakes, hunting down leaks, the list goes on and on. We finished things up and made it to the wedding to debut it for some photos and to drive off in and then the following day we went to the .sant.historic.airfield Wings and Wheels car show and won a “top 20” award to help justify our efforts. A huge thank you to everyone who helped me get the car to the finish line, I didn’t stand a chance without you!

Assembly continued on with adding all of the accessories in the engine bay, reassembling the window regulators, installing our 5-speed gearbox and driveshaft and turbo rear spoiler. Fortunately there was an inspector on hand to make sure everything went together properly. It was so enjoyable to assemble this car with all of its shiny parts and hardware that I almost want to take it apart and do it again!….almost.

The 2002 needed a sharp interior so we opted for the carpet kit (and center console) which is premium quality and a great fit. Aardvark 2002 out in California refinished some E21 front seats and E24 rear seats in black leather for us. I fabricated a rear parcel shelf to blend into the back seats and installed a new headliner. All new window and door seals and trim pieces to help finish things off.
