Well Mother Nature finally gave in and let us race last night at Western Kentucky Speedway for the $1,500 to win Crusa Street Stock event.

There was a total of 19 cars entered in our class. Chris took the car out for qualifying and ended up ninth out of the 19. We came back to the pits, made a few adjustments and went back out to run our heat.

He started third in the heat and did a great job handling the car and avoiding a couple of others that were spinning. Was able to make a pass on the last lap to take the checkered flag and win the heat. Unfortunately, we came back to the pits on the wrecker due to a bolt breaking in the shifter. Thankfully, this happened after the race was over and Chris and the team were able to get it fixed along with beating out some damage to sheet metal on the side panel and get the car ready to go back out and start third in the feature.

Chris started strong in the feature and worked his way up to second, before getting tangled up in a wreck due to another car, not having any brakes which did a lot of damage, causing us to lose our nose piece and causing the car to not handle well at all. The track crew was able to remove the nose piece and Chris was able to keep the car on the track. At the end of a scheduled 20 lap feature, which ended up being more like 30 to 35 laps due to all the cautions, Chris was able to keep the car on the track and finish in sixth place.

We definitely have some work to do this week to get the car put back together and finally get the wrap on. But we plan on being back out next weekend.

Made the trip to Paducah International Raceway tonight but once again, Mother Nature had other ideas. On to tomorrow night at Western Kentucky Speedway.

Today is Memorial Day.
Not just a Monday.
Not just the unofficial start of summer.
Not just cookouts, lake days, and red white and blue paper plates.

Today is for the people
who left home one ordinary morning
and never came back.

It is for the mother
who still keeps his medals in the top drawer.

For the wife
who still reaches across the bed sometimes
out of habit.

For the little boy
who only knows his father
through photographs and folded flags.

Today is for the names carved into stone.
For boots that stopped walking.
For futures that were handed over
so ours could keep going.

And maybe that is the hardest part of Memorial Day.

Realizing your ordinary life
was once somebody’s sacrifice.

The laughter in your backyard.
The sound of your children safe inside the house.
The freedom to wake up slowly
and decide what kind of life you want to live.

Somebody gave up everything for that.

So today,
before the burgers hit the grill
and the fireworks light the sky,
may we stop long enough to remember:

freedom has always been expensive.
And somebody else paid the bill.

Overall not a bad night. Qualified 7th out of 18 cars. Started 3rd in our heat and was maintaining that spot when we broke a gear. Went back to the trailer and changed out the gear. Started 16th in the feature and worked our way up to 7th. We are very proud of Chris and the progress he is making. It’s always a learning curve when you get in a different car. We will get there.

Eaton Motorsports would like to finally let the cat out of the bag!!!!! We have come to an agreement with Chris Shelton Racing to drive the 117 car for the remainder of 2026 and beyond. After having engine problems, tonight was the first night we were able to put the car on the track. This was the first time the car has been to Camden speedway, first race together. We tried a setup at the beginning of the night that Chris did not like. Qualified P4, started 4th in the heat race worked up to 2nd but finished 4th. After Josh Moreland (thank you sir) loaned us a gear and made a HUGE swing with the set up we went out for the feature 4th and finished 3 behind 2 open motor cars. Could not ask for a better opening night with this new crew. All this could not of been possible with out our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
