The gaff cutter Tally Ho has been attracting crowds to the Beaulieu River.

The historically significant sailing yacht has drawn a huge public following during her rebuild ahead of the boat's return to the Fastnet Race to mark the centenary of her 2027 win.

British boatbuilder and sailor Leo Goolden – who bought Tally Ho for $1 and has worked with a dedicated group to restore her over seven years.

For anyone who isn't aware, the village of Buckler's Hard itself is a historically maintained site where many ships were built over centuries. The Yacht Harbour is just a hundred or so metres further upriver.

Ah, of course Leo said similar ... how silly of me. ☺️

Open House / Mon 5th Oct / Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour

I’m delighted to be able to invite folks to come and see Tally Ho tomorrow between 2pm and 4pm at Bucklers Hard Yacht Harbour on the Beaulieu River, Hampshire.

Apologies for the late notice - I’m working around some weather constraints and have also been away from the boat for a little while. But I’m very excited to meet some of you tomorrow!

If you’re able to come, please park in the Buckler’s Hard Yacht Harbour car park and check in at the marina reception for directions to the boat. If you can't make it, there will be plenty of other events like this in the future!

Buckler’s Hard is a historic riverside village which was once a thriving shipyard, and you can still visit the slipways where ships for Nelson’s fleet at Trafalgar were built. I highly recommend making a day of it if you have the time!
