Oktoberfest may have been cancelled this year but I’m glad it’s still acceptable to wear your dirndl around town💃🏼
This weekend, during any other year, would’ve been spent enjoying the last days of Oktoberfest 🍻 Instead, I woke up at 3 am to catch the sunrise a few hours away and have an excuse to look cute and wear my dirndl at least once💁🏼♀️
10 facts you may not know about Oktoberfest:
❶ Men dress in their finest Lederhosen and women in their Dirndl, both traditional attire worn during Oktoberfest and other holidays/festivals in Bavaria and Austria
❷ A woman’s dirndl length should be at or below the knee
❸ Be careful which side you tie the apron bow on! - Right side: single💃🏼 | left side: spoken for 💖 | middle: it’s complicated 🤷🏻♀️
❹ Ladies, if you can still breathe normally while wearing your dirndl, it’s too big 😅 usually buy your dirndl one size smaller as it is suppose to be TIGHT!
❺ Around 6 MILLION visitors from all over the world visit the Munich Oktoberfest every year!
❻ Almost 2 MILLION gallons of beer are consumed in during the 16 day festivities
❼ Oktoberfest is a 16 day long festival that goes on for the entire day/evening!
❽ Working at Oktoberfest can be quite lucrative, waitresses can earn 5 figures in the two weeks🤑
❾ That sounds great but you have to be quite fit to work the event since you can walk up to 15km, be on your feet for 11-15 hrs per day, and the filled beer mugs can weigh up to 30kg! 💪🏼
❿ Oktoberfest has only been cancelled 24 times in the last 200+ years since it started
