RV HEATER
I recently had a customer bring a toy hauler to me for some much-needed maintenance and upgrades. The unit is being used to stay in for work. With colder temps approaching, I was asked if I could do anything with the heat for the RV while I had it doing other upgrades because they burn through so much propane during the winter months. The other complaint was the garage only had one 4" duct for the entire room and did not heat the area sufficiently. Since the places they usually park it at had flat rate fees, we decided to rip the gas furnace out and install a completely electric furnace with a new blower along with an auxiliary blower and a new 2nd 4" duct routed to the garage area. This system is specifically designed for an RV and RV service. There are multiple variants of the heater that can be installed. We went with the fully electric 240v, 5kw electric heating element. It was installed in the factory location and used with temp controls. The heater is quiet compared to the gas furnace, and the air temperature is more evenly distributed through the RV. The electrical system did have to be upgraded to allow for a new 2-pole feeder breaker, but the actual RV service was not altered. Running the electric heat at full capacity is no more than running 2 A/C units at the same time in the summer.
The customer was very pleased with how it turned out and the amount of heat that is now disbursed throughout the RV, including the garage.
