🌳 It’s always a little sad to say goodbye to one of our trees. Unfortunately, this one had died and become a safety hazard, so it was time to let it go.

A huge thank you to M & A Fence and Tree Services LLC for the professional job and for helping us keep Shelp’s Resort a safe place for our campers and visitors. We truly appreciate your hard work! 💙

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate America’s 250th with us. It was the perfect day filled with sunshine, laughter, and so many happy families!

A special thank you to Officer Daniel Boehme with the Prairieville Township Police Department for spending time with us, taking photos with the kids, and sharing so many smiles.

Thank you to our incredible SHELPERS who always volunteer their time to make events like this possible, and to Brad & Rosie Deneau for providing such a beautiful place for our community to gather.

We’re already looking forward to next year! ❤️☀️🐢

🏁 Races Begin: 12:00 PM Sharp

🐢 Bring your own turtle and race for fun!
🎉 No turtle? No problem! Come enjoy the fun, cheer on the racers, and celebrate with us!

🏆 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Prizes!
🎁 Every racer will receive a prize!

🚤 Or pull your pontoon right up to the beach near the pavilion
⛱️ Please note: The beach area will be closed to swimmers during the races.

🐢💚 TURTLE KINDNESS IS OUR #1 RULE 💚🐢
These amazing little racers are part of what makes Pine Lake special, so please treat them with care and respect.

✅ Catch your turtle the morning of the race whenever possible
✅ Keep your turtle in the shade at all times
✅ Keep your turtle wet with lake water
✅ Use only a small amount of lake water in your bucket—just enough to keep them comfortable
✅ Add a rock or two so they can rest
✅ Return your turtle EXACTLY where you found it after the races
🚫 Never leave turtles in a hot vehicle
🚫 Never keep a turtle as a pet after the event
🚫 Never turn turtles upside down
🚫 Never poke, drop, or mishandle them
🚫 Never put fingers near their mouth

🐢 Tips for Turtle Hunters:
• Look in quiet coves and calm areas early morning or near dusk
• Scan for turtles sunning on logs, low docks, or water-level rafts
• Approach slowly and quietly to avoid scaring them
• Be ready—when they jump, you need to be quick!
• Pro move: Bring a buddy—one drives, one catches!
• When they hop off the log or dock, swoop them up fast with a net—or dive in and get them (carefully!) by hand 👍
