In models after 2016, BMW integrated a water-to-air intercooler directly into the intake manifold.
When that aluminum core cracks, coolant starts slowly seeping straight into the intake ports and gets burned up in the cylinders.

How to detect this?
Unscrew the T-map sensor on top of the manifold.
If you see a greasy green or blue residue on its tip, you’ve just caught a massive engine failure before it destroys itself.
