Creative Philadelphia is proud to present "In Harriet's Footsteps", a citywide call for residents on the enduring legacy of Harriet Tubman and what her courage means for our city today.

Deadline: March 1, 11:59 p.m.

We're asking Philadelphians to submit an original quote answering: " What does it mean to walk in Harriet Tubman's footsteps today?"

One selected quote will be permanently inscribed on the base of the upcoming Harriet Tubman statue, designed by Alvin Pettit and installed at Philadelphia City Hall in Fall 2026.

This is an opportunity to:

Connect our shared history to the future we're building.

This marks another chapter in her trailblazing journey! At just 13, Mo’ne Davis made history at the 2014 Little League World Series, becoming the first girl to win a game and pitch a shutout, and gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated. She later played softball at Hampton University and graduated with honors.

Now 24, Davis is stepping back on the field to try out for the upcoming Women’s Professional Baseball League, launching in 2026. She’ll showcase her skills at multiple positions as she aims to help revive pro women’s baseball for the first time since 1954. We’re rooting for you, Mo’ne!
