IT TAKES A TEAM! 🏁
What a weekend of racing here in Illinois! Being in my home state, I was really hoping we could bring home a W, but sometimes racing isn’t just about the trophy. Sometimes the win is fighting through the gremlins, making progress, spending the weekend with great people, and refusing to give up.
We’ve been working to find a completely different clutch program over the last few races, and the biggest W of the weekend was the progress we made in the clutch department. We learned a lot, made some great changes, and finally feel like we’re heading in the right direction.
And because it’s Top Fuel Harley racing… nothing is ever easy! 😂
This weekend we managed to:
• Break a dash
• Break a brake lever
• Break a motor mount
• Go through two sets of rings
• And do an ENTIRE top-end rebuild between rounds — cylinders, pistons and rods!
We also installed an entirely new clutch system from Sweden that we didn’t even have access to until Friday morning! A few runs to a local machine shop and the hardware store later, and somehow we managed to get the whole thing fitted and installed right there at the track. 🔧😂
But that’s where TEAMWORK comes in.
Spencer Aguilar, Jordan Peterson, Casey Jo, Samu Kemppainen, Mike Romine, Brevin Bond, Phil Lower and Patty Romine all worked their asses off to keep these motorcycles going and make things happen.
Another big thank you to Kake and SPTR Racing for helping our team!
We may have our own separate teams — Stewart Top Fuel, Peterson Racing, Romine Racing, Lower Racing, Skull Racing, and Bond Racing — but when it’s time to get the job done, everyone comes together as ONE BIG TEAM.
That’s what racing is really about, and those are the weekends and memories you don’t forget.
It was definitely a shame that our two bikes had to line up against each other in the first round. It was a good race, and I just wish the clocks had been working so we could have gotten a proper time slip from the run. But hey… that’s racing sometimes!
Either way, it was a great weekend at the track, and it was especially cool seeing some friends come out and experience the AMRA and Nitro Harley racing with us!
Congratulations to the Jay Turner Racing team and Chris Smith on the win! Chris made some great runs this weekend and earned it. 👏
On to the next one! 🏁🔥
